New tinyUSB 2 DVB-t (HDTV) Device Coming Soon

682 posts in this topic

Hi Guys,

For those interested in USB based HDTV solutions, a new device is expected to come into the market within a few weeks.

What's so good about it?

Small, some say cute

USB 2, fully supportive of all DVB-t formats in Australia.

BDA drivers

Works perfectly with MCE 2005, WebScheduler, and other BDA based applications.

Bundled with DNTV Live! software

and lots more..........

And of course a most important thing for all - well priced.

It looks like this

More details coming soon.

Cheers

That would probably even fit onto the internal USB port on my USB card!

For people building HTPCs, this would have to be an ideal solution.

It needs a better name, though "Tiny USB2" doesn't really conjure up images of digital TV to me...

Does a rose by any other name, still smell like a rose

It will have a full name, when released, not just a nick name.

And what's better......... it will use extremely low power, thus avoiding a lot of the issues some people are having with certain motherboards/notebooks, and so forth.

Cheers

Shame it's most likely not going to have Macintosh drivers. It would be ideal for using on my iBook.

If anyone wants to write MAC drivers, contact me and I will see about what can be done.

We are definetely going to develop Linux drivers for it.

Yeh I would vote for CE grey / silver too, boring but inconspicuous :P

Hey perhaps you could have injection molded snap on covers in a variety of designer colors and sell them on the side

Is there an integrated IR USB receiver in it, or is that separate ?

And then the device will suddenly have odd designs and see through covers etc.

While colour and shape may be interesting, how about some info on the things that really matter like, tuner, chipset, usb chipset and performance specs..

Yeah Grey/Silver is OK with the mandatory blue LED

Murrayt,

All the details will be made available shortly.

What I can tell you now though is that it will use a very efficient chipset

which requires/draws substantially less power than any other DVB-t USB 2 device currently in the market.
