i have a Nintaus STB from jb hi fi.
it locks up at least once a night, usually when im switched to another AV port on my TV, eg foxtel or ps2. When i switch back to the free to air stb (using my tv remote {sony kvhx32m31}), the picture has all frozen up, and there's nothing i can do but switch the stb off at the mains power to get it working again.
this is very frustrating, as i like to flip channels, ie between foxtel and free to air.
i have a strong signal in my area ie ~ 95% on all channels.
is this just a characteristic of all SD STBs < $400?

Most definitely not. I'd be taking that Nintaus back if I were you and spending a little more. I don't think the Nintaus outputs RGB or component either. In short, if it's playing up, take it back and swap it for an HD box. What's the point of owning an HD set and not getting an HD picture?

the reason i got an SD box was for widescreen.
the reason i didnt get an HD box is there's currently very little broadcast (and even less worth watching) in true HD format.
i already took back the Nintaus, got a replacement (Nintaus again), and the same thing happened.

If you've had trouble with 2 STB's it may be time to have the antenna system checked by a technician with a Digital Field Strength Meter. If all prooves to be ok after that, then swap the STB for another brand.

Hi,
I bought one of the Nintaus DT-200 SD STB yesterday and had it lock up about 4 times last night. Can happen almost anytime an unexpected key is pressed. (Got to try out a new toy). Have to hard turn off at power switch on rear.
It seems the software is full of bugs!
Can anyone find an update? I can't find a support website at all.
My current software version is V1.32 july 26 2004
At lest the guy at JB hiFi didn't pretend it was a quality unit, only cheap! Which it appearing to be, and soon to be back on their shelf.
