Just by chance the other day ran a stb install all the way through in Chigwell and picked up ABC, SX and TDT, could have been SBS as well, can't quite remember, all found 723Khz and up.

I own a DGTEC 2000B. Experiencing loss of audio from the tv and vcr outputs of the 2000B when there's a power interruption, digital audio is fine. Only way to restore audio is turn the 2000B off from the power supply then turn the power supply back on in about 3 minutes then full audio is restored. DGTEC have linked this problem to a weak signal confirmed by the signal strength meter on the 2000B. Is it possible my signal would be stronger if I moved my antenna to face government hill than from the Mountain. My outside uhf/vhf antenna is about 8 years old with line of sight from the mountain and analogue signal is fine from there. Any thoughts/advice, recommendations most welcome.

I had a digital antenna installed alongside my existing vhf/uhf antenna to overcome the problems with audio and signal strength of my dgtec 2000b. The signal is the same strength from the digital antenna as it was from my analogue antenna. I've also noticed the analogue or loop out from the digital antenna to be of poorer quality than from the analogue antenna. I have line of sight of the Mountain from the roof but I'm also able to pick up, on occasions, digital off govt hills. It was even more interesting that I was able to get a stronger but unstable digital reception from govt hills with an indoor antenna. Would it have made more sense to have the digital antenna facing govt hills, a closer translator, than Mount Wellington? Any advice on any of this much appreciated.

Hobb, your audio probs sound like a software glich in the stb if i read it right. Do you get the same drop-out if your antenna goes directly to the TV or through the vcr? Since you have line of sight of the mtn, signal strength should not be an issue, quality perhaps the prob, meaning your cable or connections need checking/ replacing. It's generally unnecessary to change to a digital antenna as you already have a VHF one pointing at the mtn. The gov hills translator will only present UHF signals both analogue and recently, digital (not all channels yet i don't think)

Thanks, Clipper. Since that post dgtec have confirmed a stb problem. If there's a power interruption, if I have to disconnect the stb for any reason from the power then reconnect it shortly after, then no audio through the tv & vcr outputs and the only way to restore it is turning it off at the power then turning it on again about 4 minutes later. A dgtec technician believed signal strength was an issue because of poor signal detection on the signal strength bar of all channels and because I mentioned TDT was losing signal at least once a week if not more. A dgtec Tech said they'd send a bag or something to send the box back but my warranty is about to end. I was surprised the antenna was installed after dark and no meter was used to detect signal strength.

I'm confident that my cable is up to date.
