Last night whilst trying to watch the Local ABC channel (usually 197), I found that it no longer exists... has this happened for anyone else? We get 102, which is rebroadcast from Sydney or Melbourne, but we've had the Local ABC on Channel 197 for quite some time... I'll have to check when I get home again tonight and will ring Austar if it's still not there to see what's happened.

I've lost mine too-on the Gold Coast, local ABC is channel 193.

It's still missing-even as I believe its channel numbers changed on Sunday.

So does anyone know when the local channel may return? Any reason why we can't get it via the FTA tuner rather than the Satellite tuner?

We've NEVER had our local ABC channel on AUSTAR's pathetic MYSTAR down here in Tasmania.
How ridiculous is that?
Swagman51
All of the ABC radio stations above channel 41 (i.e. Dig, Dig Jazz, News Radio, Triple J) are also now missing - I guess this is the same issue?

Could well be-still no word from ABC or Austar.

Emailled Austar-they are saying they are too busy with the Mystay and say nothing in regards to when local ABC services wll be available again.

No 723 for ABC3 at all too.

ABC3 has appeared finally for me -on ch 723.

About ABC1 local-here's a reply from Austar:
"Thank you for your email.

We have become aware of a technical difficulty with how our set top boxes receive certain channels broadcast by the ABC. This is a temporary situation and our Technicians are currently working with the ABC to rectify this. We want to reassure you that this is a priority for us and the outcome is that a technical upgrade is required and we anticipate this will take place in the February/March timeframe. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you.

You will presently be able to see ABC1 on channel 102 and ABC2 on channel 126. When the Queensland ABC is restored it will become available as ABC 1 on Channel Number 102.

We do hope you will continue to enjoy your AUSTAR!
Regards

It's a priority, but the previous poster was told they're too busy working (aka fixing bugs & dealing with cranky customers) on the MyStar to deal with it. Austar ambiguity... it's a priority but it isn't.

Sounds as if they're going to replace 102 with the user's state feed, and ABC NSW will be gone except for NSW users.

Anyone believe their story about pulling the state ABC feeds because of a problem that could brick the MyStar? Sounds like marketing spin/BS.

I wish Austar would rectify this - Watching the NSW news is useless in QLD.

+1. As is having the ABC Midday news at 11, and the 7:30 Report at 6:30.

They're such idiots... they sent me an email today...

"Please take a moment to complete our short survey about MyStar HD. It'll
help us understand how you think and feel about MyStar HD and if there are
ways we can make it even better!"

I don't have a Mystar HD... ROTFL

It's still not back-hope it returns sooner rather than later.

Looks like the local ABC is back as Channel 102, at least here in regional QLD.

It's snuck back in the last few days.

Of course, all booked recordings for 102 disappeared also, so they have to be redone.

And, of course, again Austar hasn't had the common courtesy to tell its subscribers of the change. I guess there was no money in it for them.

Oh my God... the Midday News at midday, and the 7:30 Report at 7:30. Will I get used to it? biggrin.gif

And in "Air" ABC Radio Brisbane and some of the regional ABC programs are back for those in Queensland as well.

I noticed it on Wednesday when I checked my Spicks & Specks recording... it hadn't recorded as usual, and when I went to check the channel wasn't playing 90 mins earlier as usual (90 min time difference between the east coast and here).

Of course, all booked recordings for 102 disappeared also, so they have to be redone.

And redone a number of times apparently.

Some of the booked entries I set up to replace the Channel 102 ones that the MyCrap removed, have disappeared again.

Looks like if there's an existing recording for an (old) Channel 102 show, its replacement booking will not series link. You can set it to Series Link when booking it, but it'll record just the once, and then disappear.

I wish these clowns could get it right. And... communicate changes like this to customers. Perhaps they though no one would notice their local ABC channel disappearing for 4 months and then reappearing as 102 accompanied by these new Planner bugs. mad.gif
