Hi everyone,

just moved into a house at MONASH and I am having trouble receiving WIN, all other stations are fine. The aerial is pointing at Tuggers Hill and Analogue channels are fine. So i am assuming that the cable and connections are fine but the aerial may not be right for Digital reception on Win. But why just one station?

Should I be checking cable and connections first. I can take a photo of the aerial and post tomorrow if that is of any use.

I hope someone can shed some light

Cheers

it might be to do with GO! being launched, there is a 3rd LCN for WIN now, so try a full rescan and it might start working.

Yes, it's due to Go commencing transmission today.

A rescan of channels should restore WIN, complete with the new channel 88, Go.

Go was already broadcasting on monday night. I have noticed that WIN has a slightly lower signal strength from Tugg Hill compared to the other channels.

I unplugged the VCR (yeah still living in the past) and plugged the aerial directly into the TV, Win was found but only briefly. A manual scan showed the signal strength was very low compared to other channels confirming what mddawson wrote. So why would Win be lower in signal strength???

I have taken a photo and will post shortly

can anyone pick up channel 88 yet?

Re-scanned on weekend and Win is now fine, GO has appeared as well, not that GO is worth watching based on the promos, but hey ONE is good value.

I'm not from Canberra, but I have confirmed that Go! is being transmitted there, with no transmission problems.

I'd suggest you do a factory default reset of your digital tuner and then re-scan.

Note... some makes of TV's STB's require power to to switched off at the wall for about a minute after doing the reset, before powering up again then re-scanning channels.

GO! has been on air for a week now with actual programming beginning last Sunday. You need to rescan your TV and/or STB (WIN is channel UHF 65 for Tugg Hill and/or channel VHF 11 for Black Mountain). Don't forget to add it to your favourites listing.

thanks guys.

i had to do a full re-scan and not just the option to 'find new channels'

The D-Train
Had the same problem here but our GO is channel 99

Dear all
Now I'm confused. I have an SD box so thought I can't get GO but these posts seem to suggest it's available. Freeview and the Go websites don't say (why not? Must be plenty of tech illiterates like me out there). Any help?

you should be able to get GO, as long as you can get WIN SD you will get GO. Default reset the STB and scan the channels, once complete GO should be on LCN 88

Yep, the Topfield STB found GO! here in Canberra (Black Mountain) as soon as I did a rescan mid last week. Image quality is good, however I am viewing it on a 32" CRT wide screen.

Thanks I did just that at the weekend, the little Bush SD box has automatic rescan and worked a treat.

Hi All, I'm in banks and in the past week have been having issues with Ten and Win. It is weird, i have just got a new telly and set top box. The old on e panasonic still works fine, the new toppy struggles with Ten, loves Win but the old Panasonic is the opposite. Not sure why.

regardless a few questions;

I have an external aerial in the roof, (not on top), got concrete roof tiles and thought it would make too much of a difference, however getting bad reception at differing times of the day.

1 - does the dignal degrade with an aerial in the roof?
2 - a Bing Lee sales guy recommended a kingray booster for the aerial, have attached it and see absolutley no difference, should I?
3 - same Bing Lee sales guy said that digital signal degrades the more people use it. If this is the case if i have issues now with reception surely it will only get worse. Anyone know if this is the case?

any comments greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Keith

1 Yes
2 Only if your signal strength is too weak. With digital the quality of signal is far more important than the strength. Unfortunately many "experts" recommend boosters when they just aren't nesscessary.
3 Please stop talking to this bloke and give me a call, he is talking out his bot bot.
