I have two recorders a Panasonic and a Sony, both suffer with the same problem. When I use the tv guide to setup recording for the week, oftern I do not get the end of a show.

Is this just the TV networks who are crap at time keeping?

Its deliberate action by the networks.

There is a way around this.

My Panasonic EX79 has an option for over recording. You choose to have the record start 5, 10 or 15 mins earlier and later than the guide time, just look in your recording options of the setup menu.

I find that about 10 mins each way is good, but keep an eye on what show is before it. If it is a rubbish piece of poo reality show (like most of channel 10) then set the recorder to also record the TV show after the one you want. This keeps you covers you in the even they run the reality junk 30 mins late. happy.gif

However, this does not work if you are recording shows on different channels back-to-back. huh.gif

Cheers.

I have soft padding enabled on my timers of 1 min pre-padding and 15mins post-padding which works most of the time. On the rare occassion I need three or more tuners because of overlapping timers to ensure I catch everything, I fortunately have a second recorder with another two tuners.

It's not fun, but it's the game the commercial networks play. ABC and SBS of course are usually pretty accurate

When you set up you next timer, instead of entering what is shown in the TV Guide, try adding an extra 15 minutes to the end time. Problem solved smile.gif

Unless of course like Shan W mentions, you want to catch the start of a show on another channel that's due to start after the one you are currently recording....then you need to make a decision. Miss the end of the first show or miss the end of the 2nd show??? sad.gif

*This is assuming your recorders are single tuner units
