IMO - nope. Commerical viability will decrease with the introduction of cheaper players and any Chinese models. There is really no reason for Toshiba to enter a market with players of Sony and Panasonic taking up sizeable portions of the market.

Added - the reducing prices of the product PLUS the need to pay royalties to the BDA Group would be a bit of a disencentive to start production lines.

If I was them - i'd wait til the next generation or when BD burning becomes more cheaper.

Haha..just as Sony capitulated to VHS after chucking the Oroton in the dirt, so will Toshy
in releasing a blu player.

Was out at Toshiba last week, and they are definetly going to have BR players in their computer lineup, and sounds like they will be launching a player in Japan and the US, but not sure if it will be launched in Oz
