Hi all,
Cant quite understand why all the STB appear to be, dare I say it 'dodgy'.
I am looking to get a HD STB in the HT room, to simply view freeview on the projector but am having difficulty finding a box that gets great reviews.
Why arent all the 'big' brands like Panasonic, etc getting into this... Im scared to purchase the Teac 842, which Choice Magazine gave the best review.
Anyway, if anybody has any suggestions on what is worth a look at a reasonable cost - I will have a gander.
Essentially, I just want to watch tv - But I would like the channels to be:
1 - One
2 - SBS
7 - Seven
9 - Nine and so forth so you can simply flick through... Not 7 - Seven, 8 - Seven, etc - If you know what I mean!!
Thankyou!

I bought a Strong HD STB from Myer a few weeks ago, much better than the DGTech I bought at the start of the year. I've had a Strong SD box for years, it's been great.

Most STBs allow you to either delete unwanted channels (duplicates) or create a "Favourites" group and you can order them however you want.

I'm looking for exactly the same as you. I can't really justify another PVR for the home theatre at this point, but want a decent HD STB so I can watch tv on my 1080P projector.
I'm looking at these currently:-
Topfield 7110
Strong 5410
Homecast ??

I have never heard of that happening before.
All my gear, and other gear that I have played with, the favourites are always retained.

I bought a Nextwave 6190 HD STB tonight at VideoPro. It was recommended as a decent unit by a few people. I'll report back once I get it up and running with my projector.

Hi BrisVegas,
I finally joined dtvforum and just came across your post. What is your opinion of the Nextwave 6190 HD STB?
