Hi there

I have a SD STB with 2 lots of RCA outputs (1 is straight Red/white/yellow RCA and 1 I believe is component RCA Yy/Pb/Pr). I have an LCD monitor with D-sub and DV inputs. I want to hook the STB to the LCD monitor to watch tv.

I know the RCA outputs are an analog signal, can you go from RCA (not the component RCA) to D-sub via a cable? or do you need an adapter.

Thanks

You will need some kind of conversion box. RCA can mean a number of things (component or composite) but either way will require some electronics.

Simple analogue conversion will unlikely be possible too since the LCD monitor will not take broadcast refresh rates etc.

It would likely be cheaper to find another STB that has a VGA or HDMI/DVI output and supports the refresh rates that the LCD can take.

Hills have a commercial headend which have D-sub to RCA leads to allow AV signals to be input into the modulator. I am not sure how they are wired up but part number is BC85505, and they are about $15. Photo is on website, but no wiring diagram sorry and I don't have one here to check.
