connecting hd stb to analogue dvdr(NEC NDH 160) to lcd tv with hd tuner(PHILIPS 42PF9641D)

Would some-one tell me if this set-up will work please. I want to record a signal from the stb to the dvdr with the ability to watch another channel on the tv. Below are the only connections available to me.

Aerial (using splitter) ---- one lead to stb ant. in and one lead to tv ant. in (aerial signal very good in my area)
stb to dvdr -----composite and audio out to composite and audio in (composite is the only av input dvdr has)
dvdr to tv------component out to component in.
stb to tv-----s-video to s-video .
I'm splitting the aerial thinking the stb and dvdr can do their own recording thing while I watch another channel on tv with its own aerial input and secondly watch tv without needing the stb and/or dvdr on when I'm not using them to record something)
Do I need to loop the aerial from the stb to the dvdr as well?

And please don't tell me to go buy a pvr if that suggestion should pop up. I use the dvdr to burn a library of vhs tapes to dvd as well as recorded programs I would like to keep permanently.

Thanks in advance.

No, the only reason for doing this would be if you wanted to use the analogue tuner in the DVD-R.

Everything else looks ok. The only suggestion I would make is using an HDMI connection from the HD-STB to the TV (assuming the STB supports it) rather than S-Video. Though as the TV has a built in tuner the STB probably doesn't need connecting to the TV at all...

Might be handy if the TV supports PiP
