I returned a Bush dfta- 13hd hd stb after two days .It would freeze the picture and lock up the remote ,after about an hours use. Then it would intermittently freeze after that. The only to restart it was to switch it of completely at the plug. Is it fair to say the lower end of the market has this problem,or can it happen with any hd stb. I'm not bagging Bush, maybe I just had a lemon. After owning a nextwave sd htd for over 3yrs with not one issue and never no freezing, I was was wondering if its more of a hd issue. Any recommendations for a hd-stb most welcome.

many thanks Yorkie

You could try in this very area of the forum(HD Set Top Box Receivers).
A thread a few down from this one at the moment.

Sounds like you might have a lemon. The units themselves shouldn't freeze up except in some cases if you leave on 24/7 and don't ever put it back on standby.

Was the STB sitting on another device? The heat emitted from some devices can affect others especially if they are stacked on top of each other.

That's OK, your post title didn't mislead though. I wasn't putting the Healing into the 'lower end' as such.

It's performance is very good at whatever level you want to compare it at. And it's apparently being sold at some good pricing.

Thanks for the replies guys. Still looking, I can bide my time for a while as my old sd box is just playing up now and then.Being on my #2 , I think I'll hang in until a special comes around on topfield or similar.#1 is a 50in pana with inbuilt hd ,so no problem there

thanks again Yorkie
