Hi,

I know it must be a very basic question but I m real dumb in the field of DTV. I have Arion 3030 (from old selectv subscription). Is it possible to use this to watch channel one. I tried but it always ask for satellite name for search. Please advice if its possible?

I need to buy one stb which can have blind scan function as I tried a lot with the 2.3 m dish I connected in my backyard. It never show any channel. ppl suggested me to purchase a new stb with blind scan to make everything easy. Please advice if you know any one which is good for the FTA channels (I dont need pvr or any kind of recording ones).

Thanks a lot

"If you mean ONE HD (Network TEN FTA) then the answer is no, as the Arion 3030 is a satellite STB only, no FTA terrestrial tuner.

ONE HD is not available off FTA satellite either.

A good satellite receiver with blind scan is the Strong SRT4653X (no PVR facility) which was recently replaced by the SRT 4663X, which you can plug a USB drive into to use as a PVR if you wish later.

Is your C Band dish motorised.... if not, which satellite is it pointing at?

To see what FTA satellite channels are available, check www.lyngsat.com"

Thanks mtv as u suggested I will go for 4663x. So can this be used for terrestrial reception? I pointed dish to asiasat4. I have no idea what freq should be set for lnb i tried many now i gave up.

I really appreciate your help and guidance so far.

The Strong 4663x is a satellite receiver... not terrestrial. You said you wanted 'blind scan'... this is a satellite term.

How did you align your dish for Asiasat4? Are you certain it's aligned correctly?

Here's what's available on Asiasat4: http://www.lyngsat.com/asia4.html

If your dish has a polar mount, you can add an actuator and positioner to motorise it and then be able to receive all satellites that the dish can 'see' which have an Australian beam and you have a suitable LNB.

If you want a good HD terrestrial STB: Healing HHT893

You haven't mentioned where you are, so keep in mind you will only receive Network TEN ONE HD if you are in a metro area, as it's not available on SC10 yet.

Thanks Mate!
I bought dish 2 months back. It took me quite a lot time to arrange pole and install of dish. Its motorised but I have not install actuator as it didnt came with any manual so I am searching net on how to install actuator.

I thought if I can any stb which can do both terrestrial and satellite and can do blind scan as well would be great. I have one Arion already and I dont want to have two more. Please advice if there is any which can do all three jobs.

BTW I am in Melbourne West.

Thanks for your help mate.

Here's the box that will do all that.. HD and SD satellite with blind scan plus HD and SD terrestrial and will also take a USB hard drive for PVR functions.

Strong SRT 4910

Thanks a lot mate!

My friend has suggested me phoenix 3600A fta satellite and terrestrial decoder. He said its much cheaper then the 4910. But he is not sure if it supports Blind scan. I am searching web if I can find any info on this. Although my pref will be 4910.

For time being I borrowed my friend's Tevion (never heard) STB for channel One but it works like charm.
