Full Version: When Watching Hd I Get A Fuzzy Outline Around Things - Would Svideo Fix This?

Currently hooked up to my lcd pc monitor via composite in as I'm using the supplied rca cable. My monitor has s-video in for the AV inputs, I can connect via normal VGA (dvi used by PC video card) but I'd loose the PIP feature (that only works with the A/V inputs).

So just wondering if I get svideo if it would clear up this fuzzyness around the outside of objects/shapes, which gives it a fuzz outline. Other than that the picture is fine.

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, i had a look and wasn't too sure where else to post this.

thanks for any help provided.

It certainly wouldn't hurt.

I believe what you are seeing is dot-crawl which is definitely a composite artefact. Go to SVIDEO and it will be infinitely better.

yeah i think you are right, its dot crawl.. on the bunnings ad, they were like dots and they were "crawling" around the edges of the bunnings logo.

As long as you have SVideo output from your source then definitely SVideo will make a massive difference.

Be aware that if you are in 'WIN territory' the dot crawl may be in the transmission too.

On the TV, wind back the 'Sharpness' setting too. A lot of people wind this up way past its best setting. Creepy crawlies around the edges of fonts is a classic symptom.
