I just purchased one of these new in the box for $120, I plugged it in tonight through HDMI and the whole picture is green. Also no sound at all. I connected through RCA's and I get picture & sound. I want to use HDMI of coarse for the picture quality.
Did I buy a dud? I swapped cables just in case and it does the same.
Any ideas?

Ok that's weird, I took the LG box and hooked it to my Philips TV instead and no problems, it seems to have a compatabilty issue with the Pioneer LX81 and Sony HW10 projector. I have now taken the older Pioneer set top box into the cinema and that works perfectly fine, you would think the newer box would have no problems.

HDMI is still a fairly fickle beast. The order devices are powered up in and HDCP handshake issues still are pretty common. FW upgrades often fix these issues.
At least you found a workable solution
