This is on Ebay at the moment(Day+ to go), Player and 23 Titles for $200 but its pickup only so would have to convince seller to freight them.
They pop up regulary on Ebay and there's a guy in the UK that sells(on Ebay UK) them new and will freight to Oz.

Ebay seller cordie123 out of Brisbane is good (mostly buy it now) - I usually buy 3 or 4 off him a month, shipping costs are always what it actually costs and he packs everything up in bubble wrap and cardboard. Highly recommended if he has what you want.

Be very careful with this
This player is PAL only, as are all the LDs included, but as we all know 90% of LDs were NTSC and certainly all the good stuff is NTSC only
The player is a paperweight, although some of the PAL discs may be interesting

PM sent to the good Doctor.
I'll add here as a general note to all that may be interested that I have a large number of LDs (all NTSC) that I'm happy to sell. I'm not looking for big bucks but I don't want to just give them away either.

Just make me a fair offer.
Anyone interested please send me a message and I'll shoot you the current list from my PC at home.

Hey Guys
I got my LD player and some LDs this week and since I dont know much about LDs I thought I would ask here
I have the following question regarding the following LDs
Ave Venture
Devil In A Blue Dress
A League of Their Own
I am playing them on a Pioneer CLD-D790, my other LDs I have tested dont have this touch wood.
All are NTSC and when I watch them I see a lot of interference, I dont know the correct term for it but it has little lines appearing on the screen during play back and on Ave Venture the sound gets warped from time to time. The discs are in good nick so I dont know if this is normal or not. It looks like a VHS tape. If anyone could let me know if this is common with some titles on LD, thanks
Zoidy

Hi
Sounds like laser rot.
Do the movies have the interferance all the way through or mainly at the start of each side?
The 790 is a good player, Ive owned a couple of them, it is the Ntsc only version of the famous CLD 925 Pal/Ntsc Player.
DR.ZOIDBERG
Mar 21 2009, 04:05 PM
Ace Venture has it all the way

sound issue is not all the way tho on it which is good.
Devil in a blue dress seem the same with out the same problem and not as bad.
Will these get worse or and my other LD titles, will they get this rot too or not?

Laserdisc postage is a relatively costly exercise as they will definitely not fit in any of the pre-paid satchels.
It is also probably not a good idea to send single laserdiscs without rigid protection as they would likely be exposed to substantial stresses during transit. Much better to bundle a number of discs together for rigidity and send in a box (preferably double-boxed to prevent crush damage to corners).

I've bought single LD's in the past, if packed cleverly they're usually OK. Bubble wrap + two layers of corrugated box cardboard is rigid enough (inner layer going one way, outer layer going the other way). I'd agree that buying two or more at a time is safer, but ebay auctions don't always work out that way
Generally the postage has been $7 to $10 - $10 will get you two LD's packed as described above. Crush damage to corners is rarely an issue on the titles I buy though - generally the cover art is worn as it is and the damage is all from poor storage.
Obviously, big box sets are going to cost a lot more than that - count on $25 for something with 5+ LD's in it.

Interesting thread.
Actually it was laserdiscs that started me on the road to digital audio (I hated the early CDs and stuck to vinyl for more than a decade).
The quality of LD players varies widely. I started out with a Pioneer but the picture quality was not much better than VHS. I've ended up with the famed Pioneer HDX9 which I imported from Hong Kong but with a few PAL LDs needed another so also have a Pioneer CLD-D925 (purchased second hand from a store in NZ) which is alsa quite a good CDP.
I have heaps of LDs still in the collection and, like some others here, will not part with all of them. OK, only s-video output but fed into a good processor the picture quality on the HLDX9 comes very close to DVD.
I've sent a PM but if anyone else is interested I have quite a few operas and other musical items + movies which I could part with. I now have the complete Wagner "Ring" on DVD so the LD set is surplus to needs.
