Hi Guys,
I need to replace my Topfield 7000HT which is starting to freeze regularly. The Strong 5410 just took out the Sound and Image 2009 awards for best High def STB. I was wondering if anyone has one and could provide some "real world" thoughts? A good HD image and fast channel changing are very important to me.

thanks,
Stephen

Ok, I've had this box for a week now and am happy with it. It runs cools, changes channels ever faster than my previous 7000HT (which was pretty fast), has good colour saturation and a razor sharp picture over HDMI. Best of all its been on 24x7 for a week now and no lock ups (not like the 7000HT). Seems reasonable that it won Sound and Image's 2009 award.

Stephen

I'm trying to help someone who has one of those and she says the audio output from it is much quieter than what she gets from Foxtel and her DVD recorder. She's put the Strong's output volume up to maximum. Is there anything else she can do on the Strong or should she try lowering the output from the other two (unlikely to be possible)?

I just bought one from Harvey Norman this weekend. Very impressed with the sound and image quality, as well as the user interface. Channel switching is fast and not something I would worry about. First time I've used Digital STB and it only took me 5 minutes to setup. Firmware was dated 15 Jan 09. Remote feels a little cheap, but the buttons are soft to press and easily picked up by the receiver. Also has MPEG-4 support to future proof the device when they switch to these tranmissions.

Furthremore I have not noticed any lockups or restarts since using it. I do notice the volume of all the HD channels seem 1 or 2 bars lower than their SD equivalent. This could be part of the signal, not STB, otherwise its a very minor minor issue.

I'm using composite connections on non-HD plasma. I'm sure it will view much better on true HDTV.

SD audio is transmitted in Mpeg format, and HD is in AC3 format, so there is usually a little difference in audio volume levels.

Surely you have component connections on your plasma? Well worth the investment.

My old Strong SD 5006 just died so im looking at this, trying to work out if the $100 more for the 5410 over the 5405 is worth it.
Other than mpeg4 is there a reason to choose this one?

Hi,
I have had a Strong SRT5410 for about a month now. It runs very well. It changes changes channels fast, and has an excellent picture and sound too. Its also very easy to set up, with any easy menu system to help you..
Does anyone have the IR codes for the Strong?.
Regards
