Guys

I have a new LG BH200 and Toshiba EP10 that I am going to setup in the "kids" family room. I have a collection comprising of both HD-DVD and BD titles.

I only intend to keep one unit. Just wondering what you guys would have done. Let the kids have the LG BH200 or keep the EP10 and get another BD player such as a BD35?

Hi Leo,

It really depends on what you want to do with it. The BH200 is Region Free for Blu (which I know you know) and is built like a tank, but has been known to have some minor problems with not starting after being in severe heat (was on AVS forum a couple of months ago). If your kids will also watch Blu movies, I would keep the BH200. If they will only watch HD and money is important to you, then sell the BH200. I know the BH200 is worth quite a bit in resale value (i reckon $500+ but I may be incorrect). The EP10's seem to be selling around the $200-250 mark and will comtinue to depreciate.

MY only question to you is, why dont you just chuck the EP10 in the kids room and use the BH200 as your main player?? I don't know much about the Panny BD35 (apart from it can be modded), but this seems to be the cheapest way to keep everyone happy ??

I would do the above. The panny BD35 only real advantage over the BH200 is that it is BD-Live. If you can live without that, save your pesos and buy later in the year. As you know the BH200 is on par with XE-1 for SD DVD playback.

Forgot to say this is my second BH200 smile.gif The first BH200 is already in the main HT room.

BD Live is not really that important to me. And yes, the kids "collection" initially started with animated HD-DVD titles only, but I am quite certain there are more blu than red titles in it now.

I have heard so many good things about the BD35 on this forum so I am sorta curious how it compares with the BH200. That said, even if I can get one for $350, I still need to fork out another $200 to get it modded and I am not even sure if it can be done in Perth or not. It will definitely need to be modded considering 95% of my blus are imported from US, with about half that are Region A locked.

I don't own an XE1 so no, I had no idea what the SD-DVD performance of the BH200 is like compared to the XE1. So apart from BD Live, there is no other pros for the BD35?

Then in my eyes its simple (you can do it differently of course smile.gif ). Sell your EP10 and use the BH200 as your main player.

Hmm... now I am confused, are you saying the BH200 is your main player yet you don't turn it on? Or is it a backup player to another player?

Keep the BR player seeing as they're still making movies for that format
