Reception has been really bad here the last few days on my Beyonwiz Dp-H1, I was wondering when it would be fixed, but looks like it has died completely here.
Not that I watch much on WIN thesedays anyway...
The local WIN-TV number is engaged so guess others are ringing in & complaining?

Cheers Mark

They did apologise when the news re-appeared, but it's broken again now.

My TV was boned after switching to WIN HD the other night. Couldn't use the remote, couldn't use the buttons on my TV. I had to unplug the TV for a while many times and kept getting a black screen. Eventually it all worked again and I was relieved that it hadn't bricked itself as it's only 2 weeks old.

What brand is your TV, that fault sounds like a problem LG had last year.

I had the same problem when WIN cut out. Power cycles didn't fix it for me - I had to unplug the aerial cable from the wall and then power up the TV before it'd respond and allow me to change to a "safe" channel. I then plugged the aerial cable back in and it was fine (as long as I avoided WIN).

Yeah when I got it to work again, WIN HD was back up so it was fine after that.

Hi everyone,

I'm in the Tuggeranong area, using a Panasonic DMR-EX77. The issues I'm having are not only with Win, but with everything. Story as follows...

After a year of the DMR-EX77 working fine, about a month ago, the reception for digital channels started playing up, meaning I was unable to get all the digital channels properly (bad signal). It was like this for a weekend, but then seemed to correct itself. The next weekend however, the reception was back to being very patchy and it never recovered. Normal analog channels through the TV (not the unit) are fine.

As part of troubleshooting, I:
  1. Reset the unit to 'shipping' defaults
  2. Made sure the firmware was up to date (1.11)
  3. Rescanned channels after powering the unit off and clearing the old channels
  4. Tried manually tuning the unit to the exact frequency and local channels
  5. Tried our antenna (external) with another digital set top box, which picked up all channels fine
So I determined that the unit was faulty and returned it to Panasonic (local dealer) for repair.

We just got the unit back today after they replaced the tuner, but nothing has changed. In fact, now there is absolutely no reception on any channel whatsoever.

From reading in this forum, there seems to be some work on the Tuggeranong transmitter, and from reading elsewhere on the net, the EX77 also seems to have a 'weak' tuner.

So after all that (sorry for the long read!), do you guys think the combination of the two issues above could be to blame, or is it more likely the unit is still faulty?

Thanks very much for any help/advice.

Lex.

There has been some down time with Tugg hill and there has also been some signal issues generally causing pixelation but nothing causing no reception at all, try your stb again, if all is good with it have a good hard look at the TV. If you have a HDMI lead plugged in unplug it and try rescanning.

Thanks for the reply Gadget.

Unfortunately the STB was one I borrowed, so I don't have it on hand. I tried connecting the unit to another TV in the house (different antenna point) and the result was exactly the same. Also, when I connected the antenna to the unit, and then back to the second TV and then unplugging it all again, it seriously affected the reception for the channels tuned into the TV and I had to retune them all again. Any idea if this is normal?

The main TV is only SD so it's going through the normal RCA plugs.

I'll give the repairer another call today and see if there's anything more he can do.

Ok, called the repair guy and he tested over on his side of town (Belco) and it tuned into the Black Mountain channels without a problem.

So, time for a stupid question... smile.gif

The previous owners of our house had Foxtel, and thus there is still the connection in the wall above the normal antenna connection, and a dish on the roof. My question is, to eliminate the normal antenna as a problem, is it possible to plug the EX77 into the dish with the correct cable? Will this pick up the FTA channels?
gadget
No, it will not work.

Check all your cable connections again, rescan your tv using manual tune, enter ch's 57, 59, 62, 65, 68. Make sure you perform a default reset or factory reset to clear the old settings before rescanning.

Thanks, I didn't think so, but I had to check. smile.gif

Yep, I'd done this previously (reset, scan and/or manual entering of channels) but I'll give it one more go and then it's back to the repairer if it's still not working. I was getting zero signal strength and quality last night on all channels (Tugg and Black Mountain) which wasn't a very good sign. The unit wouldn't even tune in analog channels, despite the fact that the TV does.

Anyway, thanks again for your help and advice Gadget. I'll report back once I find out what the problem was.
