Hi All,
I have just updated my firmware for my Samsung HT-BD2T (gee Samsung are slow with firmware upgrades) and just wanted to confirm what firmware normally achieves. I am aware with HD and other Blu players it can update profiles, stop jagging on some movies, quicken loading times and incorporate Java Menu's. This leads me on to another question, can it improve AQ & PQ by a noticeable (but not large) amount? Only asking because I just put in a movie and it seemed to have better PQ and a little bit better ambience for AQ. Just trying to work out if it was the firmware or a figment of my imagination??

Think of the firmware in your player as the players OS (Windows, OSX, Linux, etc). As such any firmware changes can effect any aspect of the player operation including better PQ and SQ if the original firmware replaced was optimal in this regard.

Upgrading f/w can be a mixed bag.
I upgraded my XE-1 and it was good.
I upgraded my Denon, after a lot of deliberation, and haven't detected a difference.
(Not the latest one that one needs to pay for).
I upgraded the Toppy PVR and then uninstalled it and went back to a previous install that I am reasonably happy with.
So you take your chances.
Generally, it should be good (and better) BUT no guarantees.
