As of September 1, 2008 we are no longer offering discounts if prices change on our website after you make a purchase.

Please know that only orders placed before September 1, 2008 are eligible for a price difference refund under the Post-Order Price Guarantee policy.

If your order was placed before September 01, 2008, and if you see another price change on our website for an item in your order within 30 days from the shipment date, please visit this link to request a refund:

Bad move Amazon.

It sucks, but no one else does it and they still have great policies no one else does (pre-order price guarantee).

I think my biggest complaint is that they removed it without telling anyone.

It's something that has just always been there, and I've ordered knowing that if the price drops I get a refund.

I'd be pretty upset if the first time I heard that it had been discontinued was when I applied for a refund.

It does suck. I've used it on amazon US once. It was on the first BOGO Blu-ray sale they had. I ordered about 20 discs (early days and mortgage free - ah memories) and the day they arrived - bang! I would have got half for free. So I submitted a claim and got a big refund. Funnily enough, BOGO's or B2G1's were excluded from the policy the next time round.

This sucks. Agreed they coould of notified us as I order through them on occasions for specifically that reason.

Gee with the shipping charges, crap delivery times, price hikes and a sagging $$, its misery all around at the moment!!

Disappointing that they have removed this service, but not unexpected. With the world recession looming Im not surprised they have decided to adopt this approach, and as rightly mentioned, nobody else I know was doing it. Anyway, the drop in the Aussie dollar is whats preventing me more from lack of purchasing overseas at this time.

LOL, that's exactly what happened to me the other day. I noticed Speed Racer had dropped from $24.95 to $19.95 so I fired off the email asking for the refund, and got the reply saying they changed their policy. Annoying, but it's not a biggy.

it might be a wise man to stay 'wait' until prices drop even further before committing to purchasing smile.gif

(another wise man would also tell u to USE the WISH LIST option and RECORD price changes in the NOTES field. I do this with Amazon.co.uk - and am able to observe when prices rise and fall - which happen extremely often)

Interestingly the pre-order price guarantee never automatically worked as advertised. That is the lower price would not get applied to your order automatically - you had to actually email them to get them to apply it (despite what the wording said). I had to do this multiple times and complained each time. However the day they dropped the post order price guarantee, any lower pre-order price now gets automatically applied to any preorders, just like it was supposed to have, but never did.

Really? I always used to get emails telling me how much I had saved thanks to the pre-order price guarantee huh.gif

I don't think so.

They claim it was due to "abuse" of the system rolleyes.gif

It seems they are at least keeping the pre-order price protection thing going, thankfully. Ordered some movies the other day and they shipped yesterday - been out of the loop for a few days and didnt realise the Aus dolar was trading at .71 today. D'oh!

Me too, but that was only if the price had gone up since ordering. Not reflecting an adjustment if the price had gone down.
Maybe it was just me that never had the adjustment applied automatically. I emailed them numerous times about it, and they would always have to manually adjust it.

No the pre-order guarantee is still not automatically applying to pre-orders, where the price drops after the pre-order.

I have Body Heat pre-ordered. It is now $14.95, whereas I ordered it at $19.95, the drop has not been applied to my pre-order. Same with LA Confidential and Bird Men of China.

If I cancel my pre-order and reorder again it will be $9 cheaper. So much for a pre-order guarantee. If I email them they do manually adjust the order.

In my experience, they don't change the price in the pre-order screen but apply the discount at time of shipping. So your price always stays the same until shipping....

Edit: maybe I'll watch my current pre-orders a little more closely just in case.

My pre-order for Wall-e (3 disc) adjusted automatically when they reduced the price from $27.99 to $24.99.

Correct, my order for Run, Fatboy, Run sat at the higher price until it shipped, at which point I was charged the lower price and I was sent an email saying "you've saved $x due to the pre-order gaurantee"

Yep I've had those emails as well so I assume that changing it while it's still on pre-order is a new thing.
