I too have just installed an AIKO and had troubles. The supplied instructions are not helpful, as the connections for older TVs and VCRs are not as shown. I was told to ignore the top three terminals and use only the bottom three. And to combine the two audio cables (of the AV set) with an adapter so that I could get both audio channels playback through the one (white) audio plug on the back of both my TV and VCR. Eventually, from a B&W picture with no sound, I got full video and audio.

75% intensity is all right, might not be perfect pic but definitely should be better than nothing. However, the signal quality is more important. You might have a strong signal but convey no useful information, that is Noise.
The problem might be:
1. Region option - you may have an option to choose your resident state, i.e. ACT, NSW, VIA, etc or even country...
2. Bandwidth option - some set top box allows you to choose from 6M, 7M and 8M, while in AU it is 7M

Yours are different.
You connected the composite cable to the component sockets, the top three, on STB. when switch to composite and audio sockets, the bottom three, here you go!, sounds and color picture.

My one had a faulty remote, it would not respond to the unit at all.
Just wondering if the guys with issues could get it to work?
And, wahroonga farm, would you mind giving a brief review of this unit?
Thanks so much!

Ive also bought the AIKO STB255 and cannot receive channels. I can only receive 4 SBS TV channels and 2 SBS radio channels. The SBS HD channel does not appear on screen either, an Aiko blue screen saying High Definition comes up, no channel.
I have 82% signal intensity and 90% signal Quality.. Region is set to Australia and Bandwidth is 7MHz.
Ive tried manually searching also, no luck..
Can anyone help me out?!

It is an SD STB, right? So it won't decode HD. The channel parameters that is in the multiplexes sent by the broadcasters contain all the enclosed channels, but obviously a non-HD STB won't be able to decode the channel, so while you can see it in the list, it won't display. Simply setup a favourites group and add the good channels to that, or delete the channels you don't want. Normally the benefit of a favourites group is you can channel surf in the order of the faves, presuming your STB has this feature.

Yeh, I'd like to know too, if anyone could update, that'd be great
About the Bush one at big W for $50, there were 2 problems I found with it.
1/ the remote doesnt respond very well. u have to aim it so particularly to get it to respond.
2/ there was a weird humming noise that is coming through the speakers when the audio RCA cables r plugged in. It happened on and off which was really annoying. One day it happened, then it fixes itself the next day, then comes back again.
I don't know if AIKO has the same problems.. hopefully someone can review it soon.

Just in case anyone was interested..
Okay, so I just decided to give this unit another go and it works GREAT.
With indoor antennas it works OK, can break a bit, but with a roof antenna, it's perfect and remote is fairly responsive. It picked up all channels without problem.
I definitely recommend this to anyone after a cheapie SD set top box.
I think it's heaps better than the BUSH one that retails for about 60 in terms of the way it looks, the options, functions etc.

Hello,
can you please tell me what kind of an adapter it was that you used? I just bought the AIKO set top box and got it working ok but I was fiddling around with it (setting/main menu/video) and there was a question there about "video setting" and i meant to click on "no" but ended up clicking on "yes" so now all i have is a blue screen with sound but no pictures

i don't quite know how to undo it and maybe if i can do what you have done i might get it going again. i have unplugged/uninstalled it and switched it off and hopefully it will reset itself (to factory settings) after 24 hrs.
Please help
Thanks

I also bought an AIKO stb255. I finally worked out the connections with my old Palsonic tv and LG vcr. But now have a problem because in setting the menu up, i pressed YPbPr mode, but my tv doesn't support Progressive format. The manual mentions that you wont get a picture, but doesn't say how to fix it. Can anyone help?

Firstly make sure you have yellow RCA cable plugged into back of unit in CVBS,then plug the other yellow end into RCA on TV.
Turn off from power point (No light on)
turn back on from power point (Red light appears )
now press power button on unit (Green light appears)
Wait 10 Seconds
Now using your remote press
5,up,ok,down,down,ok,0000,left,ok

I am trying to set up an AIKO STB255 top box and went through the auto scan and found heaps of channels but haven't been able to get anything on the TV. When I go to TV Channel list a green box flashes up 'No TV Channel'. Does anyone know how to get around this?
Cheers

[quote name='maxy09' post='1196179' date='Nov 2 2008, 01:23 PM']I did some research on the internet and am under the impression that all digital channels will be broadcast in both standard and high definition so that even if you have a SD top box you should be able to pick up all channels.

It sounds as if the box may be picking up the channels, but can't send them to the TV. have you tried another cable?

I have my Aiko STB255 hooked up via my panasonic VCR/DVD but am only getting a blue screen when I plug the aerial into the STB as per the instructions. I cannot find any menu screen and when I plug the Aerial cable back into the VCR/DVD get exactly the same channels as before.

I have mine hooked up to the TV through the DVD and VCR as per instructions. I can watch TV and listen to the radio but not watch DVDs. I've tried reordering the cables but still can't watch them. Any ideas? Is there something I'm meant to select to switch from TV to DVD?
