Hi Guys,
Just thought I would give you my first impression with HD DVD.
I fell into the HD world when i walked into a shop and saw a Blu ray player and discs selling so cheap that even though i had never even thought about HD before I had to buy it.
I connected it to my 2.4 mt wide 1080p display via hdmi and was blown away by the pic it definatley had Punch and the sound was so Full that it was like listining to Laserdisc again, WoW.
A few months down the track I find my self looking for a HD DVD player because i wanted to be able to watch some of the latest movies.
Before i even demoed a player I saw a good deal on Ebay for a Toshiba HD DVD player and some movies.
After setting the player up and connecting it with the same hdmi cable I had on the Blu ray player My first impression with HD DVD was that I found the pic to be lacking the punch that Blu ray has, I even had to get up and check that i did in fact put a HD DVD dvd in and not a standard dvd.
The movies i have watched with this player are Transformers Norbit The Holiday.
Has anyone else had a similar experience or is it these particular movies or the Player that is the reason or have i been spoilt by Blu ray.
Cheers
Kazz

Why? It was a genuine question (one explainable primarily buy the 2 of 3 BD's he watched - low quality ones which would make it appear to someone who has seen high quality HD DVD's that BD isn't quite at the same level). Your post was a blatant attack on that member who was looking for help and really shows your true character.

I though vorlon was BSing more than a tad, I think he was bored and wanted a bit of forum entertainment.

Spiderman 3 could hardly be called a low quality encode.....both video wise and audio too....I think you would agree.

geez guys...have we really become so serious on this forum that we can't have a laugh? I just took it as a bit of parody... Maybe I have a warped sense of humour... tongue.gif

Did you bother to read my comment. What does it say immediately preceding what you bolded? 2 of the 3.

I have a warped sense of humor also , but I think the intention was pretty clear (particularly if you are familiar with cowabungadude's previous posts in this forum) and unfortunately it wasn't a bit of fun other than to have a go at another member (which is how he has his fun). I remember what the forum was like when we let this stuff run rampant and it wasn't very nice.

Well, each to their own I suppose. I can't speak for Vorlon, but I just can't fathom how he/she would take it as a personal attack. If they do, well I'm sorry for having a chuckle. Was cowabungadude trolling? Certainly. Did he succeed? Absolutely ! Would most people just read it and move on? Well, obviously not.

Personally, I saw it as a comment on how certain points of view are encouraged and others are shouted down. For saying this, I know that I now probably make myself a target. Oh well...

I too have been around for a little while and this forum certainly is in no "golden age" at the moment, I can assure you.

Thats a very good point, but without knowing vorlon and taking his post at face value, It seemed to me a genuine question. Now had he said what cowabunga dude said, what would have happened? Well I would hope the same as what happened in vorlons thread. Most trying to help and some deciding it was an attempt at inciting something. Perhaps if cowabunga was just making fun he wouldn't have started a new thread, just posted his post in the existing one. That would have ensured it was seen as a joke or at worst a dig but no harm done. Starting a new topic serves to ensure that everyone knows his view and is grandstanding to attack another member. To me, that crosses the line.

And no, it is no golden age, but it is so much better than it was. Perhaps if less attacking threads and pointless "I'm bored threads" were the flavor of the day, a more "golden age" would be around the corner. But lets not drag it down into the gutter instead with threads like this that serve zero purpose but to belittle someone else.

For what it's worth Goobatron, I accept your counter point to this, I just don't agree with it.
cowabungadude
lol, there was no malice behind my post to whoever the dude was that posted the thread, but i'm not surprised the red-squad took offence to it. it was a light-hearted attempt at some humour and the fact that if the original thread was posted towards HD-DVD then people would call it trolling, but a blu-attack is still free game.
it's funny how sore some people still get over this, and it still is the same crowd that is so sensitive.
kthxbye...

However you try to spin this it has nothing to do with red vs blu.

It has to do with the fact that you were trolling, pure and simple, and given your posting history on this forum I suppose it should come as no surprise to the rest of us.

Your post and this whole thread are really poor form.
cowabungadude
Now Kazz, why would i need to spin anything? Obviously you know more than me about the meaning of my posts, so why would anyone ever try to discuss anything with you.
I think it is really poor form to be that arrogant to call my last post spin, when other threads that you agree with you let fly.
You just might not know as much as you think you do about people.
Kazz, don't take life to seriously. You'll never get out alive.
Kazz

I don't profess to know anything about you but your posting history is there for all to see.

The OP of the other thread however, has a whole 9 posts to his name and was asking what seems to be a genuine question as he has just gotten into Blu-ray.

Having just looked at his posting history he has never made a disparaging remark regarding blu-ray so I have no reason to suspect that his post/thread was anything other than a simple request for help.

I found the (lack of) grammar and punctuation hilarious, the rest was a waste of internet space.

(And yes, I understand this was a cut/paste from the other thread - that thread is so bad its not even worth posting in)

If you thought Transformers looked flat on HD-DVD I urge you not to waste your money on the Blu-Ray version so, unless you get the limited edition "punch-effect" glasses boxset!
