Hi

I don't know if anybody can help me, but I hope so... I recently bought a Samsung BDP-1500 player to replace my Samsung BDP-1000 player, so I figured I'd try turning the 1000 into a region A player by flashing it with the US firmware. The flashing procedure worked fine & the machine plays region A encoded disks, but the video is very bad... almost like it's a 50Hz/60Hz issue or something. The video is 'split' sort-of I guess. Anyone else tried this? had similar results? any idea as to what the issue is?

My TV is on of the first Sony Bravia full HD models 40' and should have no problem with a 60Hz signal, so I'm guessing it's the BDP-1000's hardware causing the issue?

Any help would be appreciated.

I had a 1000 and used the US firmware and to me it worked FINE
However I only have componant INPUTS and I used 1080I so you could try that if your resolution is 1080P

Should not be an issue withhBD's as they are all coded the same. Basically all 1080p/60 using pulldown so original 1080p/24 is maintained.

On SD DVD's then yes there could be a problem as many Region A/1 players don't support PAL 50Hz 2:2 pulldown for SD DVD's.

So unclear if you are experiencing problems with 1080p/24 BD, PAL DVD or NTSC 480i/60 DVD?

Happens with BD's over HDMI (I don't use it for SD's) - I didn't think it would be an issue either. Maybe I'll try component (or maybe it's my A/V amp? Yamaha RX-V2700)

Ian

Edit: Tried it connected direct to the TV via HDMI & same problem, so that rules out the Amp
