Kazz

Yep I use them because their shipping is usually much quicker than Amazon, my latest order, not a pre-order arrived in 7 days.
raziel
quite reasonable freight rates (i use fedex with them) spread out the cost
over a few discs and it's here in 4 days

yorac did you have transformers on hdvdv? if you did I would be interested to see if there is any discernible difference in aq or pq. My reason is only to save myself buying it as I have the hddvd version.

I'm a big fan of DVD Pacific too. At the moment I've got a load of titles on pre-order up to the release of Iron Man with Fed-Ex shipping :-)

I wouldn't do it for one disc, but I've got an order of about 10 titles, which makes it only about $10 more for the courier than the standard mail and I'll get it in 3 days and know where it is at all times, which for me is worth the extra money.

I have been using DVD pacific for the last several months as well. My order consisting of Transformers and Starship Troopers (Both Blu-ray) was shipped two days ago and I am expecting them to arrive late next week sometime!

The Kill Bill's are due one week after Transformers. Has anyone ordered these yet? Perhaps its time to submit my order. ohmy.gif

Here is some informantion and my shipping experiences.

I use Amazon.com primarily for Boxsets as they charge a single shipping charge whereas DVDPacific and DVDPlanet whom I use charge on the amount of discs in a set so it can be more expensive to not use Amazon for these.

I primarily have been using DVDPlanet for a variety of reasons. They ship titles before release dates like DVDPacific (around 5-6 days before hand), they ship additional titles at no extra charge as they become available (which is excellent for Preorders), and they have coupons you can use.

The only downside and this goes for all 3 retailers Amazon, DVDPlanet, and DVDPacific is that for *standard* shipping times have blown out for all 3 retailers. I constantly have titles being shipped each week and I find that what use to take 12 days now takes 23-35 days dry.gif (I have titles sent on July 26th from DVDPacific still in transit).

As I am not in a rush to receive my titles this has been frustrating but okay.

Now I see that DVDPacific now offers free shipping to US Customers and asked if there were any promotions for overseas customers (Australia).

I was told yes there was which I assume is being paid for with the Price rises with shipping to Australia that came into effect on Monday for standard shipping (i.e no 0.99c for additional titles).

QUOTE
Hi Spero,

Offering international free shipping is not something we can accommodate at this time,
However the international shipping structure has changed in that orders will now be shipped as soon as product is available without additional cost to the customer.

This does not apply to Fedex shipping (I asked as I had dreams of courier shipments every week at no additional charge smile.gif ) but does apply to both standard, and Priorty Airmail. As most of you have been using Priority airmail and have been receiving titles in around 7 days I am going to now switch from ordering most of my titles from DVDPlanet to DVDPacific and placing 12 Pre-Orders in each order and see how it goes.

I queried how that site still says when you choose the ship as available that you may be charged for additional shipments but I have been told to disregard this.

Anyway thought I'd pass on my experiences.
Chesty
Well thats good news anyway Spero on shipping when available at no extra cost.

The only other thing that does keep me going back to Amazon on occasion is the fact that they will refund any price drops after you ship for 30 days. Thats a handy one...

Although where possible I will now only use DVDPacific, apart from boxsets and the like as you said.

Edit: I just had a look at the new shipping rates for DVD Pacific and not happy. Where by it used to be $0.99 per item across the board, its now the following:

International Standard: $2.49 plus $1.99 per title

International Priority: $3.99 plus $2.49 per title

Swedish Standard: $3.99 plus $0.99 per title

Swedish Priority: $6.49 plus $0.99 per title

CRAP!! angry.gif angry.gif
Spero D.
Yeah Chest that is what I said in my post. They gave free split delivery but made up for it with a large increase in their shipping costs if you get more than 1 title in an order. Swedish Post does not apply to Australia.

Previous-

International Surface Mail (9 – 20 days) US$3.99 plus 99c per item now $2.49 plus $1.99 per title.
International Priority Airmail (5 – 14 days) US$7.49+ 99c per item now $3.99 plus $2.49 per title.

Just calculating now and an order of 12 preorder Blu-Ray titles from DVDPlanet will cost me $278.50 w/split *standard* delivery OR $263.50 if I use a coupon which I always do.

DVDPacific will cost me $283.73 w/split *standard* delivery and $291.23 w/split Priority Airmail.

So a difference in the standard between the 2 with DVDPacific being $20.23 more expensive and not gaining anything for me and Priority Post which is what I would be using is $27.73 more than using standard shipping at DVDPlanet.

Therefore for Priority shipping I can take the extra expense w/DVDPacific as long as there shipping times for Priority stay at around the 7 day mark. If I was to use standard shipping then I will stick with DVDPlanet.

DeepDiscountDVD have also put up their rates.

They were-

$100.01 - $249 = $16.95
Over $249 = $39.95

now

$100.01 to $150.00 $16.95
$150.01 to $200.00 $23.95
$200.01 to $250.00 $29.95
$250.01 to $300.00 $37.95
More than $300.00 $99.95

I used to order at least 3 at a time from DVDPacific to make it worth the postage but now it's actually cheaper to buy them two at a time which I prefer to be honest.

old news though with DeepDelay !!

Added - ANY DEALS - such as the recent CRITERION Buy 1 get 1 free - have the SHIPPING PRICE CALCULATED on the original price BEFORE DISCOUNT. Therefore - in this example, the 2 Criterions were totalled up, shipping cost worked out, then the discount removed. TALK ABOUT BEING SCREWED !!

And as for DVDPacific - I, like others whom have posted here, HATE the per disc calculation - especially for 2 disc set DVDs. Though - their wording is a little 'confusing' - per TITLE as opposed to per DISC ?? WHAT GIVES ???

Region 1 doesn't exist for Blu-ray, It's A, B or C so ignore any region coding information provided by retailers. There's a list constantly updated, and stickied, available in the Blu-ray forum, and if you can't find the title on there a quick google search could lead you to a region code information site. Transformers is region free.

Finally they have woken to their senses on that one....

Well after querying their shipping charges I was sent this email:

QUOTE
Hi ,

Unfortunately the change was necessary and is of benefit to most of our customers and this includes our International customers.

We are aware that the change does not benefit all, however with the previous style it was the majority covering the shipping for the minority as shipping the larger orders on the previous rates where at a loss to the Company.

The changes to the international have removed the multiple base charges when an order is split and reduced to 3.99 for priority mail. In addition orders are now shipped as soon as product is available and no longer have to wait on the "on order" titles to save in shipping.

While it is disappointing to lose some of our customers, the changes were necessary.

Kind Regards

Kath

Yep, but I did get a more personlised one after that from Kath apologising for the increase. She said that the increases were way more than what was being passed on from the postal componies they use.

She also said to consolidate to one order now as they post when available and it obviously saves more on shipping as it calculated per order now and not per invoice.

The thing that pissed me off was that I ordered 3 titles including transformers and ticked to ship when all available. Now they've broken up the order holding back Transformers its about 5 bucks more than the original bill. Sure its only 5 bucks but still a bit rude in my book.

If you have ordered 3 titles and are paying the new rates then the other 2 should be shipping now and Transformers when they have it?

Isnt that how its meant to work?

They cant charge you the new rates and apply the old process???

I ticked the box to hold the order until all the titles are available then ship out the three at once. Now theyve split it, its costing me more than the original order stated.
