Just wondering if everyone is getting what they want out of HDM, I know I am, improved P and SQ and only the odd disc disappoints, still annoyed that we have not seen enough mainstream releases but think we're moving towards it,

PS: bet a few thought I was getting out of Hi def completely (you're not that lucky) laugh.gif

Yep, they added s-video to that little yellow cable socket. I can sell you the latest JVC VCR with s-video at the bargain price of $500 (no I won't take $350) tongue.gif

Well...I've gotten out of HD for the most part (I haven't bought any HD media this year). I think I've realised that good upscaled SD is good enough for me most of the time. I do still rent as much HD content as I can, but really its not enough to convince me to spend big bucks on a big 60" 1080p plasma and highend AVR to get the most out of it.

Maybe if I was rolling in cash I'd feel differently.

I most defintely do winky.gif

Golden Compass and National Treasure were more than adequate in 1080p upscaled smile.gif

I just watched LOTR last night upscaled and noticed a considerable difference to how I remember ever having seen it so I dont think Ill be rushing out to get that one either.

and thats based on price...I do however rent the HD version for rentals as they are the same price ...but I wouldnt pay more than 3 dollars per rental either.

Even if DVD and HD were the same price on release ..Id probably wait the couple of weeks for the DVD to drop in price if it were a keeper...otherwise Id just rent the HD version if I couldnt wait to see it.

but thats just me ..I dont have a hell of a lot of money to spend ...or waste

i have a 32cm black and white tv and a beta video recorder - is that hi-def?

high-def is a disease - the more i get , the more i want ( mmmmmm - bigger screen huh.gif )
maybe someone should start H.D.A.A ( high def addicts anonymous ) i'll start with
"hello my name is bill and it has been 2 days since i bought a bluray disc"

ah well , who needs to eat food - i think i'll just go buy another movie (you can watch the food
like you watch a movie but it doesn't do very much )

as for the upscaled sd - i'll let you know how good that is when my HD-XE1 shows up !

Not particularly. My buying has pretty much dried up. I mainly just rent. Though I do pick up the occasional SD title in the bargain bins like the X-files TV show and more recently the Batman Animated Series from amazon.

I think going cold turkey with regards DVDs in the leadup to me going HD pretty much cured me of wanting to own all my content. Well that and the frustration over BluRay regions.

lets see.... the recent BIGW sale = The Simpsons Movie .. Walk The Line 2 disc....... Hitman ... $10 each.... as compared to the $30++ each for Blu ??

You'd be mad not to have gone to their recent sale and found something cheap(er).

Fro $10 or less its worth having a punt on a title and see what the movie is like. At anything over $20 I'd seriously consider the purchase (more so with my price limit being around the $13 mark - cost of seeing a movie in the cinema). At $35-45 I'd say NO WAY = IT WILL GET CHEAPER !!

I looked out the window this morning, it appeared to be in HD and cost very little tongue.gif
The D-Train
Personally I would get a lot more out of HD if my kids grew up and went out more at night.

Unfortunately at 3 and 6 it means not much night time viewing. sad.gif

I know what you mean, with a 1.5 y.o. it means very little viewing except when he is snoozing on Sat, Sun after lunch, if I don't already have things to do, or after he is in bed which is 8:30pm, then my wife has a few things to do, so means we sit down about 9:00pm, often too late to watch too long a movie.

My second setup is in another part of the house which is more away from the kids bedrooms so I end up using that one more. rolleyes.gif
I cant put my best gear in that room either as that's used by the kids during the day. Oh well, the sacrifices we make for our little ones.
