Hello peoples, Ive just bought a new Topfield TF5000PVRt and im having trouble scanning the FTA channels in Wollongong.

I plugged the Antenna cable right into the 1st antenna socket in the PVR then the AV cables into the TV and when i scanned for channels all the scan picked up was ABC. Whatever i try i am unable to scan any other channels apart from this. When i plug the same antenna cable into my Compro DVB-T300, it picks up all stations with 90 - 95% signal strength.

Ive tried updating the firmware to the newest i could find (March 28 2008) which made no difference at all.

Does anyone have any idea what i can try to get this to scan all stations? Im hoping i didnt pick up a dud box mad.gif

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Edit : I should have said that the antenna im currently using is an outdoor antenna thats being used by 8 other units. This is a new antenna which was only installed a month or 2 ago

Did you plug the little loop cable in also? I am not sure which tuner the Topfield uses when you tune, but it is best to have it all connected properly regardless. Antenna to Tuner1 RF-in, loop from tuner1 RF-out to tuner2 RF-In (and optionally tuner2 RF-Out to your TV antenna in if you want to tune analogue or whatever in your TV tuner).

Just tried setting it up like you said and it could only pick up ABC. I bought a L4017 indoor antenna to see if that made any difference but that picked up nothing at all sad.gif

Its possible its a dud unit. Do you have any other digital tuners in the house? Could the anenna been installed only for analogue - splitting eight ways would suggest some sort of powered splitter somewhere?

Can you take the Toppy to a mates and see if it works there? Are you sure you are in a region that gets digital TV? What suburb?
