Are you referring to the 4400 PVR? (Refer the AQA link below) Or some sort of satellite model?

Hi Peter, the box model is TF4100PVRt. It is a twin tuner 160g PVR by the look of it. I can find a picture of it on the itopfield website, but no information or reviews.

Interesting: Look at

http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefro...uct/View/GH5703

The model is actually referred to as TF4410PVRt, with 160GB drive, so perhaps some sort of enhanced TF4400? Do any of the Toppy experts know anything about it? I know there was a thread where someone explained the limitations of the 4400 compared to the 5000, but would someone be kind enough to remind me? dry.gif

Topfield seem to be making some sort of comeback under the new distribution arrangement. At my local shopping centre yesterday, I noticed that both Retravision and Clive Peeters had heaps of stock of the TF7000HDPVRt.

Cheers,

Excellent units, quick & simple to operate.

WON'T RECORD HD CHANNELS - This is important to many, and no line inputs.

If you have an SD plasma this is a no brainer, at $299 it's a bargain. It will improve the way you watch TV. With a HD TV though, it's just a good recorder, not much else.

How much is a Topfield HD PVR now??? You'll get much more use out of it, and won't need to replace it for years to come.

As mentioned this is most likely because its 4410 not 4100 smile.gif This box will no doubt be equivalent to the 4400 but just sold under the new distributer. Refer to the AQA link below for info on the 4400 (basically it has no TAP capability). You can get a 4400 from the old distributer for the same price (www.topfield.com.au)

OK, I'm confused. It's basically a "4400" as described on the www.topfield.com.au site, just with a facelift and a bigger HDD. Info re: 4410 is on the korean site.

But the Korean site says the 4400 is a: "Digital Terrestrial Receiver with CI and HDD
2 Common Interfaces for CONAX, CRYPTOWORKS, IRDETO, NAGRAVISION, SECA & VIACCES" What is that all about?
The Korean 4100 seems to be the Australian 4400? or have I stuffed it up completely??

Anyway, the most important thing is they both come with 'exciting games embedded'... tongue.gif

The original 4400 and 5000 came with slots for cam cards for decrypting broadcasts. These aren't relevant to Oz so Topfield took them out. Its possible the 4410 has them still in but they'll be of no relevance to you - more likely the Oz version won't have them.

Recommend emailing iTopfield and asking direct to clarify.

Hmmm.....just had my eyesight checked. model number is indeed tf4410, dunno how I misread that! Ok, I still don't have a lot of info on the unit. I understand some models suffeed from a "0 mb" problem and there was a firmware/software upgrade to address this. Would this apply to the 4410? Does anyone have one of these pvr's and could recommend them? $299 for a 2.0 tuner seems mighty cheap, what's the catch?

Basically when SD PVRs were > $750 Topfield came up agains some competition with new cheap entries. The simplest things for them was to release the 5000 slightly cut down (smaller drive, no TAPs and no PC connection). Of late though the 5000 ($399) and the 4400 ($299) which is a bit

Personally I'd go the 5000 as it can be nicely upgraded in functionality with TAPs. But if you don't want to do that then the 4400 is fine.

I'd anticipate the 4400 FW would work on the 4410 (and yes the latest 4400 FW does fix its 0Mb issue) but I don't know 100% - best bet would be to contact www.itopfield.com.au and ask direct.

I sent a message to the tech staff via the itopfield site and have been informed that the 4410 and the 4400 are not the same and the firmware is incompatible. No wonder my harmony remote doesn't work properly !

Hopefully someone will be able to give a detailed review of the 4410, outlining differences with other models.
