My toppy 5000 has been performing really well ...no recordings lost or timer recordings missed
Until recently...
In fact I hadnt been into the DTV area to check out any new comments on the 5000 performance
for over 6 months...just browsing to see comments on new products in PVR area

...anyway back to my query
I normally use the tv listing/guide from the internet for getting the program times/occurrences..
so havent needed an EPG...
I used to use TEDS....but it seemed to go bit screwy so stopped using it

Now I recently went and downloaded the latest version ...to give the trial a new look
so loaded it ...and it seemed ok

I also use Andrew Cullen's PBK ...excellent helper for time setting for 5000 ...along with other goodies.

I now find in last week or so ...I am losing scheduled timer settings for recording programmes
and the time setting function has also gone screwy....with the time showing red...when it doesnt work!

I see there is some mention of the TEDS/EPG not liking the PBK tap??
Can anyone illuminate me on this problem??
Is this possibly causing my lost scheduled timer setting....and screwy time setting??
Or is there some other possible explanation ??

Unfortunately John (Trapper) gives an inadequate inifile for EPG_uploader, and this will throw all your times out. You need to go into EPG_uploader menu and setup your GMT offset correctly, e.g. 10hours for the East Coast at the moment.

Thanks for the reply...
I upgraded the PBK tap to latest version(from vers 10.9 to 10.12) ..and saw mention of it not liking TEDS EPG
..so removed TEDS...and now PBK is setting time correctly again
plus not losing timer settings any more...

Your info will give me something to play with and retry it...
at least my toppy is back to its old reliable self...
Pity the HD PVRs werent as solid ...and the toppy menu system ...plus commercial jump keys
are great...plus nothing like a full twin tuner time recorder plus playback
The tap addition allowed more advanced users to fix any hiccups with the toppy 5000
...and made it above average

Best audio/visual purchase I made for long time...hammered for over two years now and still
goes well..touch wood!

Just a suggestion. Over the past few weeks I have been using the built-in EPG and have been very surprised that it seems to work reasonably well for the start time. Finishing time still needs to be padded out especially with 9. When recording two consecutive programs on the same channel I finish the first on EPG set time, start the second from EPG start time and pad the end. I am in Sydney and this may not work in all areas but I have no way of knowing.

The full weekly search can be painfully slow and some channels do not provide (SBS springs to mind) full weekly EPG.
