Hi All,

in the market for a combination dvd recorder and video player no builtin HD
found the samsung dvd-vr355 cheaper than the panasonic and lg equivalent
however the sales rep told me this is region 4 locked.
approx $250 @ good guys
as just bought a samsung la40m81dx lcd tv

Has anyone got this model if so were able to make it multi-region have a bunch of region 1 dvd's to play

alternative is buy a decent dvd player and cheap video recorder,
looking at the pioneer dv400 around $150 mark.

preference is to get combination as I can transfer all the old vhs videos to dvd with 1 button
