Hi all,

Has anyone managed to setup their Logitech Harmony remote to control this PVR?

The Harmony configuration site insists that it's a Set Top Box and refuses to allow it to be correctly configured, ie. it doesn't show it on the "which device do you sue to change channels" screen.

The Harmony is a fantastic device but I just can't express how much I hate configuring it. This is a yet another prime example of how crap the configuration site is.

Hi Sean

I just ran through and setup a Teac HDRM7250 in my Harmony setup and like you said it doesn't recognise the Teac as a PVR, but rather a STB. But if you setup a "Watch TV" Activity with the Teac, it gives you the choice to change channels with the Teac. If you try and setup a "Record TV" activity, it doesn't give the Teac as an available device. Once setup though, it appears to map the record command to the record button etc so it should be good to go.

BTW, you can also rename the activity once you set it up. Good luck!

This is a way I added a device and did the complete setup manually to avoid the website deciding what input switching commands to use, I did it for a TV but it should work for any device.

Go to add device>video recorder>PVR, enter a nonexistent manufacturer and model number, it ask you to confirm remote commands, grab all your other remotes and use random commands off them to confirm the codes. The logitech website wont be able to match the codes to a manufacturer, it wil then go to the learning screen where you can put in all your commands (overwrite any commands that you used the other remotes for with the correct codes).

Or if that sounds like too much trouble send an email to tech support and they will fix it for you.

Wouldn't it be easier to try and use the DB setup first. They might have some/most of the commands already correctly mapped?

Probably , but in some cases the DB is incorrect in the way a device functions, you cant get around this by relearning IR commands. The best solution would be to call tech support, once fixed they upgrade the online profile for all future users.

@diesel: I initially tried the "Watch TV" option and it wasn't coming up in that list either. Apparently set top boxes aren't for watching TV either wacko.gif

@Hakka: Yep, this is what I eventually did, given that an email to support normally takes over a day (and today is a public holiday) and usually results in a useless reply.

I actually picked a different Teac model number, added it the activity, *then* went through the remote learning/recognition. Doing the learning *before* adding the device to the activity renamed it to it's correct model number and left me back at the start not being able to add the device to an activity.

Configuration activity counts:

4 device deletions, 5-7 activity deletions resulting in 13-15 separate wizards over nearly 2 hours.

Wow, what a simple to use device.

Mate, don't know what happened when you did it, but it took me just two goes. Whether it actually works correctly is a different matter as I cannot test it out as I don't have the Teac. Just trying to help.

Glad to read you have it sorted cool.gif

Yep, it can be a pain in the arse. Been trying for a week to program a tv that uses a combination of dicrete inputs and toggle inputs, created 10 activities with every possible input configuration, went to update the remote and it locked it up - I had to delete the lot and start again.
I wish they would just release the 'pro' software to us instead of the 'wizard designed for idiots'.

What if you just enter it as another PVR that is correclty recognised and then relearn the remote codes? I use a Digicrystal sdt-9077p and it works perfectly in record video and watch TV activities, you could use that.

Hakka, have you set up the "Adjust Input" pages in the software for your TV? It's in Devices/Settings button for your TV/Adjust Input. Your TV sounds like Method 4, maybe.

I got mine setup great using the online setup website (not the installed software which is crap). I had to add some custom commands to the record and play/pause buttons etc, but it works good.

think this is the url.

Also, a bit OT, but I have a Sony Bravia TV, but the inputHDMI command doesnt put it onto HDMI (seems to be an issue with the logitech DB) so I have to go the input before HDMI then issue an inputNext. Does anyone know how I can get a proper inputHDMI command for the Bravia
