For those of us who are not yet ready to delve into the expensive world of high definition

Where can I find a Topfield 5000 PVR with 160 GB hard drive and what price can I expect

As my faithful little Digicrystal has suddenly refused to record anymore programs, sad.gif tho still does it's set top box functions

I need a new standard definition PVR !

Having recommended Topfield to umpteen rellies and friends, thanks to the information and advice from posters in DTV forums

I would now like to get one !

So, where ?

and

How much ?

One source till they run out is on-line at -

At $399 it's not the best price around. Some retail stores are clearing or have cleared these older (but brilliant!) models at reduced prices.

Personally I'd got the $400 option from the original suppliers.

You can find them on eBay (reconditioned and new) under $300 though, with any risks eBay has:

Seems to be a month out of date but start at the end of the 5000 BP thread for some ideas if you want:

As mentioned a bit of a random ring around to some local retailers (Good Guys, Radio Rentals, etc.) might chance upon a in store run out bargain.

Good Hunting

Retravision has the 160 GB Topfield for $299 in their catalogue - and $399 for 250 GB. I'm sure they do less for cash.

From the picture in the catalogue, the 160G one looks like a 4400 model (no usb PC transfer, or TAPs).

I'd definitely recomend the retailer "premiumhometheatre" on ebay. I've bought two TF5000pvrt's from them, most recently a 160G model ($234 plus $29 postage, 12 month warrantly).

I've also been tempted to buy a Topfield 5000 PVR from Premium Home Theatre, they state that they are an Authorised Topfield Dealer.

What condition are these unit in?

The eBay listing states the following:
This product is a Repacked unit, in the original packaging.
It may display minor blemishes that will not affect the performance of the product.
It is complete with all accessories and manuals.
Batteries may not be included.
It is backed by a 12 Month Warranty.

So where do these Repackaged units come from?
Are they ex demo, factory seconds, second hand, etc?

I'm selling my beloved silver 5000PVRt, which includes a 250Gb disk, new'ish mainboard and PSU (6 months old), powered RGB to Component converter, for $250. I've moved on to the 7000 so am not using this now. PM me if you'd like more info.

cheers,

Thats good to know. I had made an earlier post after positive info on "remiumhometheatre" and "audiolandonline". Not many people have very nice things to say about "Audiolandonline"

Just received my Toppy 5000PVRt (120G) from Audioland today. Paid $170 + $22 postage.

I think they are factory seconds (repacks) repaired

This has probably been answered in another thread somewhere, but I can't find it, but what is the difference between the TF5000PVRt (silver) and the TF5000PVRt Black Panther, apart from colour.

I've downloaded the manuals for both and see that the Silver one has a "space ship" shaped remote, while the Black one has a regular rectangle shaped remote.

Apart from the remote, are there any other differences?
Improved hardware, etc.

No differences other than the remote and colour - Have a read of the pinned AQA as it lists the differences at the start.
