Hi there,

Just a query for those in the know about DivX playability on such devices (maybe someone even has knowledge on the specific model I have!).

In the manual, it says that it supports version 3.x, 4.x, and 5.x of DivX.

However, DivX is currently at version 6, I believe, so if I encode any video to play it on my Panasonic, does this mean it won't work?

Would I have to target an earlier version of DivX if I want to encode stuff? And how would I even go about this? Do certain software applications allow you to target earlier versions of DivX?

On the hardware side of things, as far as I can tell, there is no mention of how or even if it's possible to do a firmware upgrade on this machine.

Thanks for any info,
Media Penguin.

I've found that my previous Conia and current Tevion, as well as my HDD/DVD Rec. accepts the latest Divx and XVid stuff just fine.

I think there might be some obscure codec options that if enabled for encodes might cause trouble, but 95%+ of stuff I download works fine, so long as it's within my players resolution limits, ie - most players I've encountered limit Divx playback to 720x576 or under.

So far as applications and codecs go - they don't really care what version of a codec you use for the most part.

If you have problems you can convert the DivX file to DVD easily

I use DVD Flick, an excellent program and free ! biggrin.gif
