Hi,

I am planning to get a home video surveillance system. I seen some DVR kits with X4 cameras from ebay and other online stores. I don't know what to look for in a CCTV system .I do not want to buy anything that is crap and has bad picture quality.

Would any members know which system/brand/specs is good value for money or even a retailer/installer in the Brisbane area that I can purchase?

Hi, the costs of a decent infra-red camera and DVR for a home CCTV system can be rather expensive.

To begin with if the thefts are mainly at dark install a motion activated spotlight and that alone should deter them.

If not purchase an external CCTV camera housing and bracket and install it overlooking the garden.

One of these...

If you do get a decent infra-red camera remember they only have a limited range and the captured video usually has the white halo around it.

Some cameras and a decent 4CH DVR here...

BUT! Overall a deterrent is probably you cheapest and best choice such as a dummy camera and motion activated spotlight.
