Hi Folks,

I'm intermittently losing sound on PrimeHD in Woden Valley, ACT.
Rescanning the channels seems to fix it for a while, then it goes again.

No problems with any other HD on the rare occassions there is any! sad.gif
SD universally fine, line of site to Black Mountain Tower.

Receiver is an Hitachi P50X01 plasma, internal HD tuner.
No alternative HD gear to test with.

Any thoughts?

Cheers
Ron

I get my signals from the Tuggeranong Hill translator. I haven't watched Prime HD enough lately to have noticed any problems, but Prime SD has certainly been screwed up lately (eg; DOND yesterday).

The main culprit for sound loss lately seems to be WIN HD.

Sounded like they were gargling on a few shows last night! rolleyes.gif

Ron,

It's a common problem affecting several Prime HD signals in various areas.

It's a Prime problem, not your tuner.

They are (said to be) looking into it.

How many more problems can PRIME Have? rolleyes.gif

The First problem was that they were the slowest (to start with) at converting to digital, then when I and others in the coverage of Mt. Moombil (when I used to live up there), PRIME would reguarly go up and down in signal strength like a yoyo, causing constant pixelation on everyone's STB's and DTV's, while the other stations were rock solid, they appear to have fixed that issue, now there's this one. laugh.gif

I recently bought a Sharp DX83 and lately have noticed a momentary "Darthvader" sound effect on Prime. I thought it was the TV but then it happened on a PVR recording and on my PC usb DTV as well so I am assuming its a local broadcasting issue (thank goodness). Sometimes the picture lightly "dances about" as well.

Thank God I'm not the only one (for once!) who has been experiencing this! You mention a momentary "Darth Vader" sound effect... does it last for about 5-10 seconds, and sounds kinda stuttery or like the dialog is underwater? Sometimes as well the picture jumps a bit? If so, you are not alone, I've been noticing this intermittently for the past few weeks on Prime Canberra (SD) from Tuggeranong Hill. I get this through the Nebula DigiTV card in my HTPC. Since I've just built a new HTPC (using some recycled components), I thought it was a problem with it -- looks like it may be just Prime, as usual. As far as I know, it's only on the SD channel that I've noticed it.

The other weird audio thing I notice regularly (and it's been doing this for years now) is a momentary, intermittent audio glitch on WIN HD (and only on the HD channel). What it could be best described as is the audio ramps up to a really "raspy and sharp" sound for a few seconds - almost "crackily" - then it goes away again for about another ten minutes. My wife was watching Gilmore Girls on WIN HD on the weekend and it did it several times. I remember hearing it last time that show was being screened as well - perhaps it's only in Gilmore Girls? Heh.

Anyone else get these problems?

BTW, thanks to HyperReality for once again being a wonderful help and pointing me to this thread. Buy VideoReDo from him, his help and support is worth it! (I'm considering it, HR!)

The effect that I sometimes hear on Prime SD reminds me of the Daleks on Dr Who.

As for WIN HD, it's a bloody mess. I've started watching Invasion, but with scheduling times all over the place, and the sound issues, I'm starting to wonder why I bother.

Haha, yes, actually that's a good description of it. Exterminate. EXTERMINATE!

Yep thats the sound issue I get. And as someone else christened it 'sounds like an angry DALEK'. There are several sound issues spread over the channels but I don't get any 'audio ramp up to a raspy sound' .
