G'day,

It seems pretty reasonable to expect the same service from two different channels when it comes to AFL broadcasts, Channel Ten plays a match on a public holiday, and Regional Victoria gets it LIVE dispite Melbourne's Channel Ten having a delay.

So, When Channel Seven in Melbourne gets the match on a delay, Prime seems to be following, for the whole state. Why?

Today is a public holiday, Prime is showing the Kangaroos v Essendon match on a 30min delay because Channel Seven in Melbourne is showing it on a delay. This seems a bit ridiculous, when you could be in Wagga and watch it live, but be in Mildura, further away from Melbourne, and cant watch it live

I've written an email to the AFL broadcasting last week in fact, still no reply, despite writing it last Tuesday. A good explanation will be needed, as Prime DOES have the ability to break away from Channel Seven in Melbourne to provide this match LIVE

g'day ,

Iz agree with everything you say Prime/Seven should broadcast any games live. prime at Least could Boradcast games that are in Melbourne fair enough if y alive In Melbourne
which would stop Supporters going but country Supportrs who are too far away to Travel would like to see the Games Live
so Prime get off ya butt and Break away from Seven and broadcast games Live Same with Ten
Look at 9 with the cricket they intereupt soaps for the Cricket so can't see why prime can't do the same for the Footy

cheers

I'm annoyed that both PRiME and Ten both fail to broadcast any AFL games live across regional Victoria. This is simply BS. I refuse to watch any games on free-to-air due to that lack of live coverage, what the hell is the point? Mildura is 550km away from Melbourne, and I don't think we are going to influence crowd numbers. Thank goodness for Austar.

G'day,

I agree, You could go over the border to a mates place, and watch the match LIVE in Renmark on WIN or Southern Cross Ten. But you've gotta have an 1.5 to 2 hours spare each way. A bit too much to ask in my opinion

I'm a little bit worried for Mildura viewers here, in my AFL Schedules thread Ive been ignoring the fact that the AFL keeps supplying information for WIN Mildura taking Channel Ten's games, at the exactly the same time SC Ten does in the rest of the state. The only reason why I havent added these to the schedule, is because no other TV Guide, anywhere, says WIN Mildura has ANY games on weekends now, True or false?

Now, I dont know what is going on with Prime in Mildura, they have Certainly gone with independant programming before, no reason why they cant do it for AFL, in a state, and most certainly a town that loves its AFL, Why cant they do some rearranging to their program guides?

Lets see what I can come up with here

Friday Night:

7pm Home And Away
7:30pm Friday Night AFL LIVE
10:30pm Better Homes And Gardens
11:30pm Rejoin Network

The problem for Channel Seven is, BEING ON TIME

Yet again, I was sitting through a footy match that ADDED in the ads, and by the time the Bulldogs won on Friday night, It was 11:27pm, but on the scoreboard it said 10:21pm

So thats one hour and 6mins delayed in the end, and the coverage signed off at 11:45pm. That's 15mins over. So Channel Seven have to have a big think about what they used to do back in 2001, and stop doing stuff they have never done before

In fact, in my opinion, I'd like to see the countdown clock, changed to a count UP clock, like the ABC TV uses for their VFL matches, That would make it more exciting, everytime. What Ten is doing with the 5 minute warning is good, but we need more than that

Prime on Sunday afternoons, lets see a bit of LIVE action

2pm LIVE AFL
5pm Put on whatever Melbourne had on at 2pm for an hour
6pm Rejoin network

It's THAT easy!

Southern Cross Ten Viewers, we havent forgotten you in this thinking process

Saturday Afternoons could look like this

2pm LIVE AFL
5pm News - From Sydney, because Melbourne comes on at 6pm
6pm Before The Game
7pm LIVE AFL
10:30pm Whack on a 30min fill in program
11pm Rejoin network

How hard is it?

FYI

WIN Mildura has stopped broadcasting Channel 10 matches as of this year. Hope this helps.

G'day,

Thanks Mazda6, Got no idea why the AFL keeps saying WIN in Mildura is scheduled to have the games still. It just proves that a second opinion is a good option

The AFL website has it as Win Mildura (10), So i'm guessing they mean Ten Mildura

Now if only you could make the post 5pm schedule active for the SC10 in Canberra as well - I'd be over the moon....

We dont even get Before The Game on delay!
