Hi,

Trying to upgrade a Strong SRT 5022 with the later firmware.

Have a 9pinFemale to 9pinFemale Null modem cable - actually went out and brought one.
2 laptops - 1 with a real serial com port and the other laptop has a USB-Serial cable.

On both laptops I can setup a terminal session at 115200kbps and when I turn on the STB I see it booting.

Strong's upgrade procedure.

1. Using a null modem cable, connect one end to the serial port on your computer and the other to the RS-232 port on your receiver. Ensure the unit is switched off at the rear switch.
2. Unzip both the loader and the software file and save to a folder on your computer.
3. Open the LSI_T serial application file.
4. Select config to select the com port you are using on your computer.
5. Click on the upload software box which will input a tick in the box.
6. Click on the top ‘open’ icon.
7. Select the software (.bin file) that you previously saved on your computer.
8. Turn the receiver on at the rear switch.
9. You will see progress on the computer screen and after a minute or so the receiver will re boot with the new software version installed

Have LSI_T.exe running with correct com port selected and upgrade box ticked and selected firmware - tried both laptops.

Turn on the STB but nothing happens, doesn't do anything..

Anybody ever upgrade one of these boxes before and provide any tips?

Am I missing anything, even went to the device manager and hardcoded com port for 115200kbps.

I upgraded a 5022. Bought a null modem cable and just followed Strong's instructions. I didn't have to mess around setting port speeds though. All I can suggest is checking that you've got the right com port set.

Hi
I am experiencing the same problem as Bosman. I go through Strongs procedure and get the same result as Bosman - turn on the receiver and should see a progress bar (9) - nothing happens when I do this. Any other tips. I am having a problem in getting to speak to somebody at Strong. Thank you

I heard Strong recently released a STB with USB host to play contents in USB device.
Have you seen it anywhere?

It's a 5044. I looked at one, a single tuner and very much over priced, I could not get it to recognise my usb hard drive either.
