hi all
recently bought a Sony HDRXD870 SD recorder

I have a 4:3 tv so I set the unit to display letterboxed.

Seems to work fine for everything. However, yesterday was watching Naked Gun 3 and then ET Fishing on CHannel 10 SD, and they were coming up as 4:3 fullscreen. But on my old Transact box they were definetely 16:9

Also the ads during those 2 programs were letterboxing correctly.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

(I'm in Canberra)

Your display or receiver may be taking notice of the in house signalling info used by 10 to instruct their equipment what do with with what content.

i guess that shouldn't happen, right?

Would that be a fault of my Sony decoder? Seems to work perfectly on other stations, except 10.

WHen I tried another decoder using my same aerial, it's fine on all stations

But definetely happens on almost all Channel 10 programs (except the 5pm news!)

Anyone else experience this problem?

cheers

Its happened to a few brands over the years. Sometimes it requires a firmware update to stop it, other times a service menu setting will stop it.

Contact Sony is the best advice.
