We need to buy a 2nd 40" TV for family room mainly for FTA TV and occasional DVD. What type of screen would best suit given use proposed. ie is there any point in getiing full HD. I have also heard that FTA actually looks better on cheaper TV's. Comments would be appreciated.

If it's a second TV, save the dosh and buy a HD ready TV (not Full HD) like the Panasonic 42" PX7A. HN and JB advertising for $1500. That's pretty darn good value.

Unless you'll be sitting very close to it, probably not, on a panel of that size.

WTF? The cheapest of the cheap all have annoying little problems of one sort or another, otherwise I would've bought one instead of my Panasonic.

Panasonic 42" plasmas (TH-42PX7A) are now under $1500 (although extended warranty would take it back over that)..... cast your eyes on one of those and see what you think.

EDIT: Beaten by diesel.
