I want to try out the pro firmware on my Digenius PVR, but I think the Firmware on it may be newer than anything else around, I have read much of the guides about installing new firmware, but unless I'm missing something nothing seems to mention if you can copy the existing firmware to your PC as a backup of the original???.

Actually, did anyone figure out how to upgrade the hard drive on later models without getting the nag screen?, I'm still reading all sorts of info but it seems that was a problem people were having, don't know if it got solved, but surely the firmware on my box has some sort of fix for that, seeing as it's got a 160gb drive in it.

Try it and if not satisfied go here and select the older firmware and re install that...

The problem is I read that the stock firmware may not support a larger hard drive on later models, mine came with a larger drive so I'm not sure if it's got custom firmware, if I flash to a diffrent firmware I may not be able to go back to something that will work.

Can you from the machine's Menu see what FW is installed currently?

Bootloader - S/1.7
STBOS E/3.41 [B]

So it's still listed as 3.41, but what gets me is the date, seems more recent than anything I have found so far?.

Interesting, I just read about a glitch you get in one of the hacked firmwares, where after recording something the unit gets stuck in PVR mode, my PVR does this, after recording something it won't change channels as if still in PVR mode, you need to press exit to be able to change channels and use other menu functions.

I "upgraded" the firmware on my Supernet 2160T from the Digenius site with disastrous results! The so called upgrade was actually a downgrade and rendered the device inoperable.
The existing firmware version on my 2160T WAS 2006/6/15 and the upgrade on the Digenius site is 2005/6/07 !!!
I managed to restore the tuner function using firmware I found here:

http://users.bigpond.net.au/pcpro/Digenius...%20firmware.zip

but the hard drive (160GB) does not work as this firmware version does not support HDD greater than 80GB.
If anyone out there has a recent version or at the very least my original version of the firmware I'd love to get a copy.

I have the 160GB model but not sure how to determine the firmware (it is a menu function)? Happy to ISO the drive (has nothing on it yet, never been used except to see if starts up with the new HDD cables (accessible outside the unit) which I have attached...

Ideally I want to access this drive directly and image it before I start using it as I plan to attach a USB cable to it and be able to load movies and stuff straight to the HDD. It is not much use to me "as is" as I bought it not realising it does not work with Foxtel so I can only record low quality to it - may as well get some real use out of it by converting it to be able to load content direct to the drive and then play this through the TV.

If anyone has already done this and is willing to share please let me know...

I already have the part required to convert any STD 3.5 " drive to USB from Hong Kong and the IDE connectors are standard inside the unit. Unfortunately the disk format is not standard as when connected to my iMac asked if I wanted to initialise the drive... I will try this on Windows, but if anyone knows the way to read and write this format via a utility please let me know.

Thanks in advance.
