Picked up the Sony KDL52XBR for $5300 from Radio Rentals in Adelaide.
Was only after the 3100 but they had XBR in stock and matched my best price.
Everywhere else was dearer or would be waiting til Feb.

Pana TH-50PX70A 50" plasma Sticker price denoted 'Catalogue Sale $2499 '. Retravision, Hay Street, Perth.
I realise the wiki records lower prices (down to around $2200 + warranty) so above price suggests potential buyers should be able to get for around $2200 to 2400 (+ extd warranty) without too much haggling.

In the Panasonic prices thread there have been reports of that model being picked up for just under $2k.

The joys of buying technology... I can only imagine what is going to happen with Samsung (the sponsor of the Olympics) and TV prices as we approach August..

Hi all,
Given how useful I found the prices listed on this forum when purchasing new HD tv, I wanted to contribute...
I bought a Sony KDL40X3100 for $2820, with an additional $279 for a 5-year extended warranty and $45 for delivery ( --> so $3144 all up) at JB Hifi in Capalaba in Queensland. I'm not sure how this price compares to what others have got, but I was happy

Unfortunately, I'm still waiting for delivery -- the store was out of stock when I purchased, not even a display model left!
Hope this info comes in handy.
Hi mate,

Is the free LCD offer definitely over? I thought I'd read something somewhere about an extension, but I'm not sure.

Apparently it has been extended till the end of feb, I've read on a couple of sites. I've filled out all my paperwork for it and it appears to have been accepted, so now I'm playing the waiting game.
They have a couple instock, but there delivery drivers are booked out till early next week and they aren't delivering over the australia day weekend. Not that I blame them

That's a decent price but not the best value in town. Bing Lee had a Sharp 37" marked at $1299 and would have closed for under $1200 with negotiation.
Or you could have gone and got a Sony 40" V3100 (1366 X 768) for around $1500 (or $1600 with 5-yr warranty).

Just not enough cash for the extended warranty though. Apparently I've been one of the only ones not to get the extension.. oh well.
HDMI cable, delivery, extended warranty, all turned down

Guess they wouldn't have made much money from me

I was going to get it from Soundcorp in South Melbourne but they were out of stock until end of February. So basically told the guy at DSP that Soundcorp was selling it for $3k and he more or less said if you have the cash they could match it.

Sony Central Sydney had the 40X marked at $2999 anyway. There's a scanned DS Powerhouse docket on the HDTV prices Wiki for the 46X at $3100 (panel only).
Keeping that in mind, I would suggest that you show the scanned docket to the PowerHouse guy and take the 46X for $3100 or use their 14-day change of mind policy to give it back and price-match Myer, Harvey Norman or Good Guys.
Good luck !

Myer had the tv for $2080, which I thought was a good price. But then I found that Digital Centre had it for $1990. I gave the Digital Centre price to the Union Shopper and they found the $1932 price at Retravision.
The telly is on back-order, and should be received in around a week or so.
A non-union member cannot use the Union Shopper service. To use it you need to register with them over the phone, but to do so you need your union membership details. That said you could use your union member friend to buy the telly for you, and for you to pay the relevant costs.
The good thing about the service is that you can use it for practically anything you like (fridges, cars, holidays etc).

Nope, I think Sony was already flooded with PS3 redemptions and had to give away at least 5 times the number of PS3's that they had budgeted for IMO (or by looking at the posts in other pages of DTVForum). Many people haven't even got delivery of their TV sets but they've paid in advance so their claim is going to be honoured. Sorry but it looks like you've missed the boat this time.

Can someone update the wiki, instore there are prices listed at less than whats listed on the wiki (i.e. Samsung LA40M81BDX wiki $2195, retravision price tag $2099)
There should be a date next each price listed, and i think putting the screen resolution next to the model number would be helpful to a lot of novices too (me

).
Samsung LA40M81BDX:
I went into retravision and as mentioned above the price tag had 'sale price' (lol) $2099, so i talked to the guy he said u give me a figure (BASTARD, hate it when they do that) i said i could get $1950 elsewhere, at the time i thought it was a great price but upon reflection i dnt think its that great. Anyway, he said he is sure he could beat it, but he also said 'honestly i couldnt get u the BEST price in town', he said shop around and come to us last (typical). Also quoted the warranty (from standard 3 to 5yr extended) at $239
I reckon u can get the tv around $1850 mark.
