- enter
- 84269
- enter
- eject twice

This is the top of the Samsung food chain and comes in a sexy piano gloss finish which is in line with their M8 LCD panels.

There is a HDMI input and output (1 HDMI cable included)
Auto setup
1080p upscaling

The appearance makes it look good in a modern home, with a vertical disc player and slot rather than a tray
A large LED display makes it a funky looking device

Power comes from the subwoofer unit, where the speakers are connected via some rather weedy connectors. These are color coded and come with a reasonable length.

The speakers are of a sensible size that the sound is nothing like the usual HITB. Even the subwoofer gives a good thump but is not tuned for low bass, but it acquits itself in busy scenes in movies.

This is not a system you want for classics (although it was not half bad) but for home theater. It does quite well and will challenge a basic system with its steering, bass and voice rendition.

At $2000SRP its not small change, but street prices could be lower and if assembling a few bulky boxes with less aesthetic appeal is not your cup of tea, this will make a nice addition to the advant garde household.

Highly Recommended if you can get it for less.

Will post pictures later

But some nice things
The USB slot allows you to hook up a hard disc and play tunes from it
THe remote also controls other Samsung devices, although it is not a learning one
Disc playback is pretty quick and it is a quiet unit.
There is a wireless module for the rear speakers.

Sound quality wise, for HT
It can easily match a basic HT component based setup which will cost <1 to 2k, and is convenient to use.
Its main bearbug is the lack of a solid mid, which is not surprising, considering that the speaker drivers are small.

The bass unit becomes a bit overbearing in jazz or simple pop and classic.

Please, can someone help me, i have got a region 2 Samsung HT-TXQ120 and i applied the multi region hack, and now region 2 DVD's dont work, it only plays Region 1 DVDS

can anyone please tell me how to restore it back to factory settings so that region 2 will work again please?
petetherock
Try these:

Region code free;
* turn on dvd player
* make sure there's no dvd in closed tray
* press 'repeat' button
* 'no disc' disappears in left corner
* press 29334 if you have a R1 player
57538 if you have a R2 player
56732 if you have a R3 player
76884 if you have a R4 player
53814 if you have a R5 player
24462 if you have a R6 player
* current region code is visible in left corner
* press 9 for code free
* press 'Standby'

Not responsible if it renders your machine a toaster....

i bought it from uk and it was originally region 2, so do i need to enter the code for region 1, which is 29334? or the code for region 2, which is 57538?
petetherock
As mentioned bro, this was suggested by a Samsung technician, mine plays all codes, perhaps you can try the R2 first, but you have to try, I have no solution for that mate

Thanks Pete - tried the code but not sure what open and close is. The DVD unit doesn't have a drawer, it uses a slot so there is no open and close buttons on the remote. Tried ON and OFF and also eject after the code was entered but no luck but thanks for continuing to help.
Any other obscure or esoteric methods welcome. I did some reading and it appears that all of the region switching is done via a selection of key strokes on the remote and a series of different six digit numbers. I looked up and tried the sequences for the TQX250 and 350 models without much luck. Samsung (here in SA) are not particularly interested in helping (or haven't got a clue what I'm talking about) so I'll keep visiting this site in hope.

Hi there,

Here the same problem with the HT-TXQ120. I've tried all the codes, sadly without any success. I wish I could turn it back to region 2. I regret the use of the multiregion code. This because I've only got the system for two days now sad.gif
I contacted the Samsung supportcenter. They told me that there IS such a code but they can't provide it due to the international laws. And if I change my region code manually (which I sadly did) I lose my guarantee privileges.

Also tried to do a firmware update. No success.

PLEASE HELP ME OUT sad.gif

Ok guys,

This worked for me to change back the region code for Samsung HT-TXQ120R to region 2

After reading the manual I found it!

If you use this method you will lose all your settings and the system will be set to default.

The solution was not on the remote but on the unit!

- Turn the system on,
- Hold te 'stop' button for 5 seconds (not on the remote but on the unit)
- You wil see 'initialize' on the pannel
- Push the power button
- Your system is reset.

This is also provided in your manual.

It worked for me. I hope it will work for you too.

cheers.

Just bought this unit. Looks great however was fustrating to set up!! Plug everything in, startup a DVD and NO sound!!. Took me while to get it working, solution was to unplug the power plug into the subwoofer and plug it back it!!... then presto, for some reason the unit then picked up that there were speakers connected?.. Same thing occured again, when I connected the wireless rear speakers!.. WTF?

In any case I hope this doesn't continue to happen, however my next Vice is about the USB connectivity. I plug in a USB HDD, (holding loads of video contect) and the unit can't read the HDD. "Error reading disk"?? again.. wtf? I will try plugging a normal USB stick next time and see what happens.

My question : Has anyone else got this problem, and do they know how to get it to read the folder structures from the USB HDD? Your help would be very appreciated.

Hi All,

I am also stuck with this problem....

As I understand it for now the only thing to do is punch in -84269 code and use it until the system locks up in region X and the reset it like above and go all over again?

Or does anyone have new codes for this system?

Hi, I have a Samsung Ht-txq120 home cinema but i can't operate it with the remote control. The sistem is new i have got it today but still i don't know what's wrong with it. Is it the sensor in the subwofer or the remote control? Thanks
Sajo

I have tried a fix for the HT-TXQ120 that worked for me. I think it's a UK model, but i bought it through a Norwegian internet-dealer.

It'really simple: rolleyes.gif

Have the DVD on, without disc
Press "Enter"
84269
"Enter"

There should be an automatic shutdown when finished typing.
And voila! tongue.gif
You have a region free player.

If you should get some tick noise from yor speaker(s) afterwards, check NTSC/PAL setting on remote. (System off)(It is shown in Manual)
Or reset the whole system.....

ukyo
New firmware is out...
the instructions posted on the support page are incorrect.. but if you follow the instructions for another model it shoud work fine..
use these instructions -> http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/...MPEG_UPDATE.pdf
