Hi all

As the title says, I am able to record from a PVR to a DVDR but I only get picture recorded - I can not get sound !

I have a Mediastar DT920 and have just purchased (refurbished) a Panasonic DMR-ES15 DVDR.

The connects are:-

- (from bottom to top) PVR>DVDR>TV.

- Coaxial from wall > PVR > DVDR > TV

- PVR has component connected direct to TV

- (Red/White/Yellow cables) PVR (out) > DVDR (in) > DVDR (out) > TV (in)

Should be simple enough, but no sound.

I have tried taking out the Yellow (video) and plugged in the S-Video with Red/White cables in - same result - picture but no sound.

When viewing TV via DVDR I get picture and sound/audio and it all records ok, both picture and sound/audio. The sound is coming via 'Analogue' on the stereo unit.

When viewing a recorded program from the PVR on the DVDR I receive picture, I do not get sound/audio via 'Analogue' on the stereo unit.

But if I put the stereo unit to 'Coaxial' I get sound. But the 'Coaxial' on the stereo is picking up the PVR sound/audio because the PVR is 'playing'.

I need to get sound/audio through the 'Analogue' on the stereo and if I can I think all will ok, but I can not figure it out as why there is a problem.

I hope this makes sense and really appreciate any thoughts (as the Red/White/Yellow cables from PVR to DVDR should work - but it doesn't)
Thanks for any help/suggestions.

Are you connecting this way?

If you are connecting the way shown and there's still no sound why not buy a SCART to SVideo /RCA composite converter plug and try using the SCART input. If this doesn't solve the problem you can always return the adapter to Dick Smiths within a few days for your money back.

I'd also take the recorder back where you bought it if all connection attempts failed and ask for a swap-over.

Ooops sorry about above, must learn to reply before hitting 'post reply'.

Yeah Doc, I had actually tied the image you suggested.

I'll try the scart, but think I'll get the same result (hopefully no though).

Other than that I'll have to use the warranty for the product.
Thanks
