Hi All,
I posted this in the very long Beyonwiz topic but have repeated it here for clarity and ease of access.
The new version of the Beyonwiz DP-S1 firmware, DPS1-01.03.077, is now available from the
Corporate Beyonwiz Download Page. The firmware is listed under the "Firmware" dropdown box, there are also release notes available under the "Others" dropdown box.
Edit: The update is now also available via the
Australian website.
Enjoy!
Regards,
Ian.

I can only tell you what I found on the website. I do remember that Jackie did offer that the older firmware would also be available. Perhaps he can look into this when he gets back on deck.

Ian.

To those of you who, like me, went charging off to beyonwiz.com.au to get their hands on the new release....suggest you follow Ian's link in the first post. The f/w upgrade is not, as of 2:42am Australian EST, on the Australian site.
The other interesting thing is that the user guide is not available on the international site, but v1.2 is still there on the Australian site.
Swordfish Holmes is prepared to deduce:-
- firmware will be added to the Aust site at a more reasonable hour than that at which Swordfish types this
- a new user guide is probably on the way.

Also posted on the BW forum -
I've got the new firmware on my USB memory stick and about to do the job.
Anyone else done it yet??
All the fixes sound great, particularly the chase play problem, that will bring a lot of joy to this household.
One thing that worries me is the comment in the notes that says that the USB drive must be formatted by the BW. This sounds horribly like I will then have a drive that can't be read by my PCs. Is that right? I was hoping that I could plug the drive in to the BW move the files and then attach the drive back on to my PC for editting and backup to a DVD if needed.

A list of the release readme:
[Bug fixes]
1. Freezing when some DVD titles are inserted in ODD drive such as Finding Nemo and Gridiron Gang.
2. Subtitle of TV programs is out of sync when a recording program is played.
- Live news programs tend to be out of sync a few seconds. This is natural since subtitle is being typed in real-time.
3. Black-screen whilst playing a recording program. (PMT change is applied in real-time)
- A black-screen may still be displayed whilst fast-forwarding or rewinding a recording program but it will show you normal screen in 1x playback mode.
4. Losing some of timer recordings which are set consecutively.
- This is reported by Jason Leary: When three or more consecutive timers with no time gap between timers are set, one of them is recorded for about 1 min.
5. When recording is finished whilst a user watches this recording program with the time-shift function, the DP-S1 does not jump to the live position any more;
- It keeps playback status and continues seamlessly after a recording is ended because the program is stored to the time-shift buffer automatically.
6. When the DP-S1 returns to the playback mode from fast-forwarding or rewinding, the playback offset is more accurate.
7. Chase-playback for a recording program (which is being recorded) is applied.
- When a recording program is played in the FILE PLAY menu, the DP-S1 continues playback as the recording progresses.
8. Stores IceGuide EPG data in the onboard HDD for faster loading of EPG.
9. HDMI auto configuration with a FULL HD TV (1080p)
- Video blinking (once per every 5~10min.) is fixed.
10. Volume control including muting is applicable whilst disk-checking is in progress.
11. The recording file is locked if the "File Lock" option is enabled when a timer is created.
12. When IceGuide is disabled, the DP-S1 displays all the program schedules received from the broadcasting signals.
- The DP-S1 will display schedule information for ABC service more on the EPG interface.
13. The time duration of a recording file is precisely displayed on the FILE PLAY menu.
- Even though the time duration a being-recorded program is very short, the DP-S1 displays it precisely.
14. For picture rotation function, the limitation on the file-size (JPEG file) is enhanced.
15. The title of a recording program is editable.
16. No need to enable the subtitle every time the TV service is changed.
17. System freezing when playing a corrupted JPEG file.
18. AC3 compression mode selection defaulting to RF mode.
- Next firmware will have an option to choose between line mode and RF mode.
- line mode is for Hi-Fi system. RF mode is for TV speakers
19. Fixed rare freezing of DP-S1 on transition to PVR/Media Playback from Setup/Contents screen and vice versa.
20. All the buttons of RCU will be worked well on DVD menu
[New Features & Enhancements]
1. Backup to USB HDD (support up to 500GB HDD) and more functions for file management
- Copy/Move recording programs to USB HDD (Formatting the USB HDD is required.)
- Direct playback of the recording programs stored (moved or copied) to the USB HDD.
- Delete files in the USB storage including a HDD.
- Create new folder in the USB storage.
2. A USB storage device can be safely removed from DP-S1
- Use "DETACH" button to remove storage devices safely.
3. Internal HDD can be formatted without rebooting
4. OGG playback
5. Time-shift disable/enable
- When the time-shift function is disabled, the onboard HDD doesn't sleep.
- Internal HDD sleeping will be in next firmware.
- The pause button enables the time-shift function temporarily.
6. Display [R] mark on the service list to indicate the services which are being recorded.
[Performance enhancements]
1. Better memory management
- Reduce possibility of faults due to lack of usable system resources
2. Upgrading the onboard HDD to larger HDD.
- Supports up to 500GB.
- Automatic disk checking function is not applicable to the onboard HDD which is larger than 200GB. (In this case, manual disk checking is required, which is supplied in the SETUP menu.)
3. While recording two 1080i HD services simultaneously, it is now possible to play 1080i HD TS stream or BeyonWiz recorded stream, from USB 2.0 HDD
- some 2.5" USB HDD won't be able to do this.
[WARNNING]
If a user upgrades the onboard HDD by himself, no warranty is applied to the DP-S1.
