HI,

I bought a PVRX2 today ($374 VIP price at RPs), and when I try to auto search for channels, it comes up with "Signal Strength 20%, Quality 100%" and progress 0%. Thats all it does even after 15 mins. I tried to search manualy for 592500 and band width = 7 (ABC Melbourne??), but found nothing. But atleast is tells me nothing found.

Am I missing something?

If I disconnect the antenna, I get the same result.

Going down to a friends who knows their antenna is ok and testing there. Then bringing their SD STB here to see if my antenna is ok.

Any help would be appreciated. RPs are just up the road, but now shut sundays!!

Thanks

Good diagnostic procedure. If it fails then tomorrow you're only a day a way. smile.gif

As expected, my PVR does the same thing at another house, and another PVR works fine at mine.

Back to Radio Parts in the morning. Wintal - cheap yes, well spec'd yes, quality? mmm.

Thank god they now have a 3 year warranty. Ive had three different Wintal appliances (2 dvds, 1 pvr) and everyone has played up and sent back.

I had the same problem when I first got mine. Load factory defaults and search again.
It worked for me

Turn the thing off at the power point, turn it back on, do a "factory reset," then turn it off for a couple of minutes and then back on. Run the tuning procedure again. If it fails then surely the unit is a dud. Money back time!

I guess you have plugged your antenna into the antenna IN not the RF in and looped from the primary tuner to the secondary.

Something I've often wondered, how come some twin tuner PVRs have two sets of antenna sockets whereas some make do with just one like single tuner PVRs?

Thanks for everyones responses.

Didn't try the reset suggestion, would have if I hadnt have taken back. Living near to RPs, it was simple to take the unit back for exchange.

New unit works nicely. Impressed.

The 3 year warranty overcame my reluctance to buy another Wintal appliance.

Now to play with the download and burn software....
