There is some information in this thread about the unit's UK release:

Cemalley, do you want speculation or facts?
Assuming the later, Panasonic Australia's website is the first (and only spot) to get the facts.

Panasonic Australia's What's New page

[speculation]
I would expect they, like any other manufacturer, won't formally announce the new model until stocks of the current model have been run down.
[/speculation]

Apart from fixing the widesceen flag it really doesn't offer much more. In fact, if you need an analogue tuner for any channels, then the 77 is not for you. (75 has both analogue + digital tuners, 77 has just digital tuner).

If all your displays that are ever likely going to be used with the Pana are widescreen, then the w/s flag issue becomes irrelevant. With that in mind, I purchased a EX75 a few weeks ago for $550 cash price.
It's a great machine.

[speculation]
I wouldn't expect much discounting on a newly released model, when that eventually happens.
[/speculation]

Re Speculation.

The new EH57 (digital tuner 160GB) has a retail of $599. (This replaces the $799 EX75) That make $540 easy, maybe $500 flat.

I haven't looked at the RRP on the 77 but I expect $699.

Re Speculation.

The new EH57 (digital tuner 160GB)...

Wrong.
The DMR- EH57 does NOT have a DVB digital tuner, it's analogue only, hence the lower price point.

Wrong again.
No, it doesn't.

I saw one of these on display at a store about a week ago - I think it was at the Good Guys, Tuggeranong ACT
Asking price may have been $697.
I noticed it because the styling was rather different from the EX75/85, with a more vertical front panel.
(I suppose it may have been the '57 that I saw, but it was definitely one of the new Panasonic range)

I was looking for facts.
The widescreen flag is important tome as the Tvs to watch shows copied to DVD are 4:3 and are not likely to be replaced soon.

Apart from the unconfirmed sighting, is there any more news on this model?

Anyone have any inside-Panasonic sources?
