Hi All,

yet to buy a pvr, and currently using htpc. hopefully a beyonwiz someday soon.

Anyway, just wondering what file system is best for linking in an external HDD. Would also like to read/write to the drive from a MAC OS.

About to format a new HDD now, so look forward to recommendation and why.

Thanks

Doesn't really work like that. There's no 'best solution' format. Some setups require certain formats, but otherwise its usually based on the size of the drive. At this stage I'd plug the drive into your MAC and get it to format the drive. FAT32 is the more 'open' of the drive format options. The Toppy 7000 plugs directly into a external harddrive however a BW just uses your computer network (ie if the drive is up and running and connected to a network then the format is not really relevant). Note that NTFS if an option is also better because it handles 4Gb+ file sizes.

I believe the BW will also utilise usb drives with the new firmware update to be released shortly.

I believe the BW will also utilise usb drives with the new firmware update to be released shortly.

The BW now plays (videos, photos, music) from a USB drive (or memory stick). Supposedly the new software relaese will enable you to copy files from the BW to the drive.
