I posted my issue with the SBS Essentials channel awhile back but now I have some screenshots to show what im seeing.

4:3 Letterbox -

4:3 FullScreen -
Image0328-0225(CVBS).jpg

When set to letterbox I have black bars on the left and right side of the screen.

Is this a DV-B300 fault?

If you spotted a post I did yesterday or so Other Post you will see that SBS transmits this as 480x576 (I have a full pixels screen cap there from the recorded MPEG2 stream).

Now my STB scales the image, it looks like yours doesn't.
Is this a bug? Perhaps. Most DVD players will scale this size, my Toppy certainly does too.
Other DV-B300 should comment here I think.

Not likely.

It may be a TV problem.

What TV is it?
How is it connected? SCART, Composite?
What are the display options through the remote?

Why would you say it is a TV problem? It is clear from that capture that the image is pillarboxed, the capture wouldn't pillarbox by itself (or would it?)

What you see on the screen shot is what I see, on every TV in the house, not just from the PC.

Doesnt matter what the output the box is set to eather, Composite, RGB & Component disply the same thing for me.

If SBS is transmitting 480x576, why the hell cant they transmit 720x576 when sending 4:3 content!?!? From this forum I was lead to believe that there was some sort of legislative requirement in the Clayton's DTV rules that meant they had to do 4:3 within 16:9 (ie reduced res to 540 pixels) rather than simply sending 4:3 as real (720 wide) 4:3. So how can they get away with 480?!? mad.gif Is the rule "If its 4:3 you have to transmit it as 540 or lower resolution!?!?"
Bastards, the lot of them! tongue.gif

PS: I assume that since this is low importance content (LIC), they decided to use as little bandwidth as possible? 480x576 and about 16 colours.

TEAC DV-B200 also does the same.

the pansonic TUCT20A used to do that but the strong blows it up to a blurry unreadable picture (but fone on letterboxed mode)

My 300 does the same thing.

Just FYI...the TEAC ITV-D500 outputs SBS Essentials correctly in all modes.

Cheers,
