I noticed that Strong have an Australian website here at www.strong.com.au but they only list their satellite receivers. It is obviously the same company so, how come they're not supporting the terrestrial range?

If it is some kind of weird licensing deal, who is the actual Aus importer/distributor for Strong STB's?

Really just frustrated that the www.strong-technologies.com website is so out of date with their firmware upgrades and no proper support page/FAQ.

Agreed. I think Strong are loosing their edge. I believe they are too focussed on box moving while support calls go unanswered or unresolved. Local marketing is also non-existent. Strong Look out - your competitive edge is being eroded each month. I for one (as a 5290 PVR owner) would like Strong to remain competitive.

I ordered a SRT 5290b from Hantrex and it appeared to be sent directly from the above address. I also had a tech problem, called the above, and had it resolved quite quickly.

I sent an email to "tech@strong-technologies.com" and had a reply within 24hours.

I too wish Strong would have their website up-to-date as most of us would like to go directly to the source for updates and support.

I for one will sing Hantrex's praises!
Customer service - and response time to questions - is INSTANT!

Seven days a week I was asking questions - even before I bought my box - and they were great!!!!

I don' tknow if Hantrex = Strong in Australia - or if they are just re-sellers of the brand name - but they get my praise and support.

I purchased satellite STB about 2 yrs ago with the promise of extra features via a firmware upgrade in the next month.
They neither responded to my faxes, email and the phone calls were evasive. The boxes are generally well made (overseas and not associated) but the local Strong outfit are known in the industry to be a bit dodgy.

I got the extra features elsewhere.

I had a recent support experience with Strong Technologies. They responded quickly to my e-mail and replaced (and upgraded) my equipment while I waited in their office.

The fault is not fully resolved (TV manufacturer may be involved), but the service and warranty exceeded my expectations.

PS - They told me to stay tuned to the website in the next few weeks for some updated 5290 firmware that will solve a number of bugs/enhancment requests.
