I have had a little bit of success in copying a file from the 5390 via a USB IDE interface.
My problem was I accidently deleted a program before I watched it.
As I had not recorded anything else on the machine I assumed that the Files should still be on the drive but with some sort of deleted flag.
I followed the instructions of past posts using dd for windows.
Except for a couple of errors in the original posts I was able to read the information on the drive and create an image of part of the drive to see if I could find the deleted program. After many hours of serching I did resurrect the program and copied it to a Mpeg file.
If anyone is interested in my procedures I can elaborate.
Why the topic, the previous information on this file copying concentrated on the 5290.
Mention was made of a program called kaonripper which automated the file extraction from the 5290 but I have been unable to make it work on the 5390. The whole disk format seems to be completely different.
Has anyone been able to make kaonripper work on the 5390 or do you have an alternative.
One thing I did find that the Format facility on the 5390 does not work.
It is labled HDD Format (reset). I expected it to clean the disk. All it does is delete the files but leave all the previous information on the disk.
Any comments would be appreciated.
