Ive heard several people suggest new Panasonic plasmas are due in April which will include DTV tuners, can anyone confirm this??
Heres hoping we can get a 42" HD panel with inbuilt HDTV tuner soon, its certainly confirmed to be happening in the USA (not that that means an awful lot in australia ofcourse)

I think this rumour may have been started from the Beyond Tomorrow show that reported from CES that the new models coming will have built in tuners. I wouldn't take it as gospel as they may have just be reporting what is happening in the US.

Looks like they're on their way!
I got this link from a thread on www.avforums.com in the uk.

Looks like the UK is getting new models, the PX60 and the PX600, both HD with built in digital tuners.

Who know when we may see them though....

OZ, South Africa and NZ are on the wrong end of the Q in getting most new models, so don't hang on to your ? (hat is it) waiting.

Having an Inbuilt Digital Tuner is a given and more than likely be out second half of this year.
I wonder whether it has the same problem as the LG and records in analog?

LG, have overcome this by building hard disc recording into a new model. smile.gif

Yes they have which is a start.
However reading a review there is a problem and I quote "The recorder's hard disk has a capacity of 160GB, which might be a bit on the small side if you're a big HDTV fan: The drive accommodates up to 63 hours of conventional TV, but this drops to 13 hours for HDTV because of the extra data involved. And you won't be able to get the recorded programs off the hard disk, since there is no HD-compatible optical drive. That means the 13-hour capacity will be even more limited if you want to keep your favorite programs."

These extra features that the makers are bringing out to suck you in could actually be a hinderance than a benefit. Watch out for the traps.

Panasonic have a HD/SD tuner integrated into a 32inch LCD on their website.

I dont like the silver edging.
The black edging with the current model actually draws you into the picture.
